  • “Lovely little stone cottage in the middle of farmland.”

Only problem we had was the shower was poor and had to be held by hand. Being tall I couldn’t stand in the shower either.

Only problem we had was the shower was poor and had to be held by hand. Being tall I couldn’t stand in the shower either. Roads are extremely narrow to get to the property so if you have a larger vehicle I would look elsewhere. Owner was lovely and very welcoming however and would consider staying again due to low price. Overall 7/10 for me.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Scrumpy Cottage. We are sorry that you found it difficult on the lanes. We have had guests who have happliy driven the lanes around the property in Land rover Discoveries and other types of 4 x 4 vehicles. Most of the guests that have stayed at the property have enjoyed the bath with the added benefit of having a shower head to make it easier when washing hair in the bath. We are pleased that despite the points raised you enjoyed your stay at Scrumpy Cottage. Owner relations

The property

Deep in tranquil, ancient, stone-walled moorland lanes, ¾ mile from Blisland's excellent pub and community shop, two 'upside down' cottages converted from 18th cent.

Grade II listed granite barns.

Gallons of cider were made within these sturdy walls.

Just a few hundred yards to the open moor; a lane walk down to the village (and back up!).

Shared laundry (washing machine/tumble drier).

No children, except pre-crawling babies.

A total chill-out retreat from the world, ideal for walkers and cyclists. Scrumpy: door from paved parking area to hall.

Roomy ground-floor double bedroom; bathroom suite.

Stairs up to living room with TV/DVD and view to own pretty little side garden (table/chairs).

Kitchen/dining room (microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker).

Blisland: attractive village (old cottages, good pub, PO/shop/internet café, medieval church) around a green in wooded farmland below the western edge of Bodmin Moor.

Nearby, the River Camel (trout/salmon fishing and Camel Trail cycleway).

The sea at Port Isaac, 9 miles, or Polzeath (sand/surf beach) and Rock (watersports), 12.Bodmin (town), 5.

About the location

BLISLAND

Bodmin 5.7 miles; Wadebridge 8.4 miles; Polzeath 13.2 miles; Tintagel 13.8 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Fowey 17.2 miles.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!

Note: Babes in arms only.
