“We had a lovely Easter stay at Chough Cottage, which was comfy, had everything we needed and an absolutely beautiful view of the sea from the living room.”

The bottle of wine was a lovely and welcome touch after a long drive! Kingsand beach is just a 1 minute walk away, and it was easy to leave the car in Fore Street car park all week for £25 (pay contactless in the car park). I didn’t need to use the car at all because Kingsand and Cawsand had everything we needed. Took the Cawsand ferry one day to Plymouth Barbican and visited the National Marine Aquarium, which was pricey but well worth it. Both beaches are dog friendly (though no dogs on ...

Both beaches are dog friendly (though no dogs on Cawsand from 1 July), and I would recommend the Devonport Inn for food. The courtyard at the cottage is very small but it is enclosed, so is good for dogs. Overall the kids and dog loved it; I would definitely stay again!

The property

In Kingsand, a little 'upside down' house with good sea views, snuggled in a row of 18th century houses, 150 yards up from the beach and 60 yards from the Coast Path.

Access is from a narrow lane which has no passing traffic. Hall (for coats/boots) and 3 steps up to two bedrooms - a twin, and a double (TV/DVD) with French windows to a tiny courtyard, imaginatively done just for two; loo.

From the hall, stairs (stairgate) up to light open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge, electric cooker) with TV/DVD/PVR, iPod dock, pine floor (rug) and those lovely time-wasting sea views - binoculars provided to observe passing shipping.

Also from the hall, more stairs down to smart, roomy bathroom (step up to roll-top bath, separate shower, washbasin, washer-drier).

Loading and unloading, 30 yards away; car park, 200 yards.

Thoroughly well done, comfortable and convenient.Kingsand and Cawsand: exquisite adjoining fishing villages in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty sheltered by a wooded headland; pebble-and-sand beaches, family pubs, cafés, essential shops.
