    “Haye Barton farm was brilliant.”

The owner David was terrific and leaves you to get on with things but if you need anything he is right there. The property has everything you need. There was twelve of us and we had a great time.

The property

1½ miles from St Ive, deep in spring-flowering hedgerow lanes and approached over 500 yards of track, a huge, detached, completely private, south-facing farmhouse on three levels, looking over 115 acres of farmland and bluebell woods which are all yours to roam and explore with care; there is a river - great for older children (small children should be supervised).

Immediately in front, a small, enclosed walled garden.

Once all was thriving with a variety of farming activities, now the surrounding barns are mostly vacant.

An open-ended barn contains table tennis and badminton and the rest provide sanctuary for swallows.

Inside, completely renovated with smart bathrooms, flagstone and wood floors (rugs) throughout, beams and huge inglenooks.

Living room with inglenook (woodburner) and TV/DVD/Blu-ray.

Big kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, large larder fridge, range-style cooker with 6-ring gas hob/electric double oven) with table/chairs seating 14, TV, inglenook (woodburner) and glass-topped original well.

Utility room/pantry (once the old dairy) with washing machine, tumble drier, large freezer, larder fridge.

Loo.Stairs up to five bedrooms - step up to three double (two with 5' beds with footboards, the other with 6' four-poster, one with TV), and two twin (one with footboard and limited clothes-hanging space); bathroom (suite) and shower-room (suite).

A few more stairs up to second living room/den with double sofa bed (no clothes-hanging space), and sixth bedroom (6' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite), sloping beams and TV.

Damages Deposit £300.

This is a terrific family house offering freedom for children.

About the location

ST IVE

Liskeard 5 miles; Looe 15 miles

Close to the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, the pretty village of St Ive (there are three parts) is characterised by rolling green fields, stone circles, rocky tors and a labyrinth of paths winding through the countryside. Though the community covers a large area, its lovely old church and superb country pub act as the main focal points. There is much to do and see in this fascinating area, with the old market town of Liskeard just 5 miles away and the beaches and harbour of the quaint fishing port of Looe a mere 15 miles through the winding country lanes. In-between there’s fishing and watersports at nearby Siblyback Lake, the Donkey Sanctuary at St Annes Chapel, Cotehele House (NT) and gardens, and the championship golf course at St Mellion Country Club. For superb days out with the children try Dobwalls Theme Park (4 miles from Liskeard) or the world famous Eden Project. Even the maritime city of Plymouth with its historic Barbican docks area, outstanding shops, theatres and restaurants and the National Maritime Museum is only 40 minutes by car.

Note:500 Yards hardcore access track.
