    • “This was our second visit so obviously we were very impressed. The house itself is immaculate and the five bathrooms are all beautifully equipped and spotless. The kitchen, crockery, cutlery and utensils are all you'll every need and the furniture throughout is comfy and exceeds expectation. We did have a minor problem with a pump but the caretaker sourced an engineer and fixed the problem within a couple of hours and with no disruption to our holiday whatsoever. We're a party of three generations, grandparents, two couples and two grandchildren, there's room for all and privacy if you want it. The garden's bijou but adequate and well kept. Would recommend it to anybody with no reservations at all.”

The Property

In a spectacular location above the beach at Downderry, 300 yards from the village centre, a large detached modern seaside home with uninterrupted panoramic sea views from every room over the bay from Rame Head to Polperro and beyond. The south-facing interior is light and spacious and the upside down layout makes the most of the views. Along the hall, both with sliding glazed doors to balcony, light-filled living room with leather sofas/chairs for 7, woodburner and TV, and study/second living room doubling as a bedroom when required with double sofa bed, desk, TV/DVD (limited clothes-hanging space). Also on this level, neat shower-room (suite). Stairs (top stairgate) down to lower ground floor and four large bedrooms, all facing the sea (views) - the master double (5' bed, TV) with en suite shower-room (suite with double shower cubicle) and bi-fold doors to small terrace (table/chairs for 2, steps down to garden), and, all with glazed doors and step down to the conservatory (door to garden), two further smart doubles (one with access to one side of bed only), both with en suite shower-rooms (suites), and a twin (footboards). Bathroom (suite plus hand-shower). Back door to paved path to garden. A superbly positioned, spacious seaside home with unrivaled views along the stunning Cornish coast. Downderry: seaside village (pub, good restaurant, PO/shop, churches) on a hillside 4 miles from Looe. Beach of rocks, sandy patches. At its end is Seaton. Monkey sanctuary, 2 miles; golf, 4; Plymouth (via car ferry), 9, or via bridge, 14. Buses to Plymouth and Looe.

Regional Information

DOWNDERRY Looe 6 miles; Liskeard 10 miles; Polperro 11 miles; Plymouth 18 miles. Downderry is a small quiet coastal village situated in south east Cornwall. Downderry has a sheltered beach, Post Office and shop, deli, and a cliff top pub and an excellent restaurant, serving quality local food. At low tide it is possible to walk along the beach from Downderry to Seaton, where you will find a family friendly south facing beach and the nearby Seaton Valley Countryside Park and Nature reserve is home to wildlife, including otters and kingfishers and also offers great cycling and walking opportunities. The picturesque working harbours at Looe and Polperro are within an easy driving distance away, and the wonderful stretches of the South West Coast Path in this part of Cornwall take you to rocky coves, dramatic headlands and tales of shipwrecks and smugglers. Further afield is Plymouth, where you will find plenty to see and do, including a marine aquarium, a theatre, large shopping centres and the historic Barbican waterside area.
