“We have had a wonderful stay at Kingfisher cottage this week.”

The weather & coastal path walking has been stunning. Edmonton is a really good base for exploring this part of Cornwall. The weather & coastal path walking has been stunning. Edmonton is a really good base for exploring this part of Cornwall. Regrettably, the award winning ‘Quarryman’s’ pub, close by, was closed for refurbishment for the majority of our stay. Unfortunately the log burner here seemed to be due a major service/ repair due to a faulty grate mechanism so that was disappointing. We visited in early January and the cottage was quite cold and we struggled to get warm. Otherwise we would highly recommend this location. If you’re looking for a special meal out you’d struggle to beat ‘The Mariner’s’ at Rock. The Cornish Arms pub in St Merryn is also well worth a visit. ◦

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are so pleased that you had a lovely stay and were able to enjoy the coastal walks. We are sorry to hear that the local pub was closed for refurbishment during your stay, this really was out of our control. We will arrange for the wood burner to be serviced and hope that we might welcome you back for another stay at a future date. Property Owner

The property

In Edmonton, two pretty, terraced cottages with views from upstairs over the Camel estuary or Bodmin Moor.

They open from a courtyard of cottages on three sides, the pub on the fourth.

At their back, an open lawned area.

Kingfisher Cottage: front door from courtyard into living/dining/kitchen (washing machine, microwave, fridge, electric cooker, coffee maker) with slate floor, smart TV, sound system, slate fireplace (wood/coalburner) and glazed door to lawn.

Steep narrow stairs (rope rail) up to two bedrooms with fresh fabrics and glimpses over rooftops of the Camel estuary to Padstow and the sea beyond - a double (TV), and a room with two 2'6" singles.

Smart bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Edmonton: hamlet of former stone quarrymen’s cottages (no working quarry near now), excellent family good food pub.

Little-used lane runs one mile down to the Camel estuary (birdwatching) and Camel Trail (cycleway).

Wadebridge, 2 miles; Padstow, 6; the splendid Trevose peninsula beaches, 7½ miles; Camel Valley vineyard (tours, tastings), 8.

Excellent golf, walking, watersports and riding nearby.
