  • “Gare Barn is a beautiful holiday venue in a wonderful location.”

On arrival you walk in to immaculate accommodation to be greeted by a homemade cake to die for left by the owner Clare who lives next door. The owners live next on their working farm but you rarely see them but if needed you know they're only to willing to help. When you do see them there is always a big smile and a wave, especially from their children.

The property

About 2½ miles from Ruan Lanihorne, an impressive cottage converted from a stone barn on a 370 acre working farm, surrounded by wooded valleys along which streams and creeks meander to the sea (Carne beach, 6 miles).

It is part of the historic Tregothnan Estate, one of the largest country estates in Cornwall and with the only tea plantation in Britain.

You are welcome to wander the farmland and enjoy magnificent views across the River Fal, and feed lambs at lambing time.

The cottage adjoins the owners’ farmhouse, with your own good-sized enclosed lawned garden (picnic benches, barbecue) to the front and rear.

Slate-floored entrance hall for coats/boots.

Stairs (top stairgate) up to spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, electric oven) with high vaulted beamed ceilings, woodburner, TV/DVD, iPod dock and glazed door to 4 steps down to the back garden.

Downstairs, three bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with en suite bathroom (suite with separate shower) and glazed door to garden, a double (6' zip-linked bed or twin) with glazed door to garden, and a double (6' zip-linked bed or twin); bathroom (suite with separate shower).

Spring water.

A great retreat for nearby beaches, simply relaxing or for walkers and wildlife lovers. Ruan Lanihorne: pretty, rural village (church, award-winning pub) on the Roseland peninsula, surrounded by rolling hills between the rivers Fal and Ruan.

Truro (cathedral city), 4 miles; St Mawes, 9.

Many beautiful beaches within a short drive (Carne and Pendower, about 4 miles).

Great gardens (Heligan, Trelissick, Caerhays Castle) within 10 miles.
