The cottage was beautiful the only fault we had was travelling by foot down to the beach as there are no footpaths so not ideal with a toddler and a pushchair as the path provided is through sand and uneven surface so we did have to drive down if we wanted a day at the beach other then we had a fantastic stay it was like home from home

The property

Just 2 miles by road (less on foot over the dunes) from Perranporth's golden sand/surf beach, a sturdy detached cottage in Rose, standing firm by the dunes and coast for unknown centuries.

A large, enclosed garden surrounds it - mostly lawn and shrubs to the front (picnic table, barbecue, summerhouse); crunchy gravel drive and parking at the back.

The friendly local farming (retired) owners live in the hamlet.

Inside, welcoming and surprisingly spacious.

Living room (TV/DVD) with narrow beams and big inglenook (woodburner).

Fitted kitchen (washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker) with colourful tiles; dining area with door to back garden.

Original, quite narrow stairs (stairgates) up to three bedrooms - two double (one with access immediately off stairs and one with washbasin), and a twin.

Bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

A cosy, homely cottage in an excellent coastal location. Rose: hamlet a mile from Perranporth (small resort, 3 miles of sand/surf beaches) and the huge stretch of Perran Sands.

Footpath from village to beach (3 mile round trip) over an SSSI area of natural sand dunes.

Golf, pony-trekking.

About the location

ROSE

Newquay is the home of the UK's surf scene, boasting three major beaches, the National Surf Centre and an endless supply of rolling surf, making it a water sports paradise. The town, with its zoo, sea life centre and varied selection of restaurants and pubs, also promises a holiday to remember. For avid walkers, the South West Coast Path passes in both directions along a stunning coastline of high cliffs, hidden coves and yet more beaches. The quaint harbour and fishing village of Padstow is just 14 miles away, while Truro, with its museums, cathedral, restaurants and cobbled streets, as well as the Eden Project, can be reached within 45 minutes. Picturesque St Ives and the Tate St Ives gallery is around an hour's drive or a train ride away. In fact, because nothing in Cornwall is far from Newquay, it's the perfect touring base.
