Falmouth, 6 miles away, offers everything a sailor desires along with sandy beaches and good restaurants. The attractive county town of Truro, with its cathedral and fine Georgian architecture, is only three miles away. The famous Eden Project is less than an hour's drive, as are several of Cornwall's finest gardens (Heligan, Trelissick and Lanhydrock to name but three) as well as Land's End, the Lizard Peninsula and the countless beautiful beaches and magnificent stretches of the South West Coastal path. The north Cornish coast is only 40 minutes drive. Closer to home there is also much to explore in and around the Fal or Helford rivers and the Roseland peninsula.The owners have taken enormous care in upgrading Lion Cottage to a very high standard. Truro is the retail centre of Cornwall with a good range of independent shops as well as national stores all within a compact city centre. With its eclectic range of art galleries, bars, restaurants, cinema, theatre, museum and outstanding cathedral this small city is a superb year round destination. Steeped in history and intriguing architecture there is always plenty to do and see. Just meandering through the Georgian cobbled streets is a pleasure in itself. With many peaceful parks all within a short stroll from the centre it is a most relaxing city to visit. A wonderful day trip can be had from Truro to Falmouth along the stunning Fal estuary with many options to disembark and pick up the boat later along the scenic river trip.
