The Property

2 miles from St Tudy, 2 from St Kew and 10 from the fine sand/surf beaches of Rock and Polzeath, a large detached house, 300 yards back from a pretty, wooded stretch of the A39. It is a splendid re-build of an old mill and is surrounded by 1½ acres of mostly lawned, enclosed garden. Beyond, there are gentle views of cattle-grazed meadows. From March to the end of August there are 100 acres of private woodland (including river) available for you to roam, and more than a mile of river where you can tiddler fish (occasional sea trout). It is part of the Lamellen Estate. Inside, all smart, of excellent quality, family-friendly and beautifully thought through with fine, historical botanical and wildlife prints. Front door into open-plan living/dining/fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas range-style cooker with double oven/6 burners) with woodburner, TV/DVD and glazed doors to patio (table/chairs) and garden. Utility room with loo, washing machine and tumble drier. Five steps down to games room (pool table, iPod dock) with door to garden, and snug/children’s play den (TV/DVD). From hall, stairs (top stairgate) up to five bedrooms - two double (6’ beds) with en suite bathrooms (suites, showers over baths) and TV, a twin (zip-linkable to 6' double) with TV and separate bathroom (suite, shower over bath); 5 steps down to a suite of double bedroom (6’ zip-linked bed or twin) with TV, single bedroom (can also accommodate cot or z-bed) and shower-room (suite). Spring water. Damages Deposit £300. An exceptional, beautiful home.

Regional Information

No village Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles. The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
