Reviews

    • “The caretaker is extremely helpful, the cottage is well equipped and with very adequate heating - all leads to a very relaxing time even in winter.”

    Ms Reed-wenman, Ruislip, October 2018

    • “We had a fantastic holiday”

    Mrs Gatehouse, Cirencester, October 2018

    • “This was an excellent holiday cottage and I would return and recommend to others. However, there were several things which needed maintenance most of which were fairly minor but with attention would improve the experience. Some had already been the subject of feedback on the website but despite this the 'cleaner /housekeeper' was not aware so nothing had been done. The cleaner was most helpful and soon attended to them when I told her but admitted that unless she was told she wouldn't know. So what does Helpful holidays do with the feedback?”

Mrs Burfield, St. Albans, September 2018

    • “Everything with the accommodation was perfect. We had been to the site 5 years ago (in a different cottage) but Columbine was even better. The perfect weather helped but even so very ejoyable week.”

    Mr Galloway, Bridgwater, September 2018

    • “We book a dog friendly cottage via helpful holidays most years, this was the first time we couldn't let our dogs out and relax as the garden was not fenced in. it would have been nice to have a washing machine in the cottage and not have to work around a few machines shared with others and a suspected laundry business, the oven seal has gone making cooking difficult , a number of other issues that were annoying but we could not keep complaining and waiting in for someone to come and sort them. The play area looks good in the photo but had seen better days and was in desperate need of a refurbish, the carpets were very stained when we arrived but this was expected having light coloured carpets in a dog friendly cottage with the british weather. The cottage lacked something that made it cosy or it could have just been a snowball of little issues with the dark cloud of the weather, we will not be rushing back.”

    Mr Gay, CANTERBURY, August 2018

    • “We had a amazing holiday despite the weather not being entirely helpful. The cottage was very well equipped and was a great base to explore. Pool area was nice and i made good use of the laundry room Staff very friendly Will use again and recommend to others”

    Ms Gerrish, Melksham, August 2018

    • “The cottage was perfect for our Family, had everything we needed and more and it was great to have the use of a good sized pool which we swam in every day. Helpful Holidays were as professional as always when booking the holiday.”

    Ms Draz, Orpington, July 2018

    • “Great location, fab pool, friendly staff”

    Mr Carr, Warwick, May 2018

    • “The only things that hampers our enjoyment is the weather - thank you for a nice little haven bolt hole to escape too in our busy lives and the site staff are extremely helpful.”

    Ms Reed-wenman, Ruislip, April 2018

    • “A lovely quiet and relaxing area this was our second stay here in columbine and everything was comfy and cosy in the cottage ,the swimming pool was an added bonus which my husband loved. The only thing i think just my opinion from other dog friendly cottages we've stayed in is that maybe this cottage would be better having laminate flooring instead of carpet in the dining area leading to the kitchen.”

    Mrs Moore, Telford, April 2018

    • “The cottage was fine -enjoyed the holiday but the keys were a bit stiff and tricky and couldn't lock the main door from the inside (only a small thing to mention).”

    Mrs Wall, READING, April 2018

    • “Cosy cottage, with everything we could need, perfect for our holiday with our two young grandsons. We used the very convenient swimming pool every day resulting in my very happy 6yr old grandson learning to swim.”

    Mrs Parry, Trowbridge, March 2018

    • “Excellent, super clean cottage with everything you might want. The pool was a brilliant bonus.”

    Mrs Pantazis, BRISTOL, March 2018

Regional Information

BUDE Tintagel 17 miles. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
