“We visited with 2 dogs and the cottage was ideal.”

It was secluded in the countryside and had a fantastic large garden. The owner's dog Fred was great; got along with ours no problems. The property is well appointed and the owner at hand if needed.

The property

In a peaceful spot on the edge of Tretoil, on a 1½ acre smallholding along 200 yards of hardcore track, a simple cottage converted from part of an old engine house at the heart of Cornwall's ancient mining heritage.

The owner lives next door with friendly dog Fred and his carpentry workshop; home-produced pork available.

The back garden is unfussy and natural with raised rustic decking (table/chairs). Three steps up from the garden to living room, cosy with woodburner and TV/DVD; snug dining room; kitchen (small dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, electric cooker) with door to garden; ground-floor shower-room (suite).

Open-sided stairs up to the double bedroom (5' bed).

No children.

Two well-behaved dogs welcome.

Dogs are not allowed upstairs in this property.

A fascinating escape for couples to enjoy walking, cycling or golf, or as a base for exploring the whole of Cornwall.

Tretoil: tiny hamlet deep in hedgerow lanes on the edge of Lanhydrock Golf Club, 2 miles from Bodmin's historic town (shops, cinema, bicycle hire) and Lanhydrock House (National Trust).

Eden Project, 10 miles.

Fine sandy beaches south at Carlyon Bay, 11 miles, and north at Padstow, 16.

About the location

TRETOIL

Bodmin, the one-time County Town of Cornwall with its narrow streets, shops and pubs, is perfectly placed for exploring all that this fabulous holiday area has to offer. The outstanding surf, rugged cliffs and hidden coves of the north coast beaches and the quieter sands and river estuaries of the south coast are both 15 miles away while on the edge of town is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail. The popular Camel Trail for cyclists and walkers also winds its way through the town on its journey to the sea at Padstow. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out. Also within easy reach and ideal for a fun-filled day out, guests can visit Lanhydrock House, the small town of Fowey and Charlestown with its Tall Ships. There is a good choice of country pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area.
