Just beyond the little hamlet of Freathy on Whitsand Bay, perched on the hillside above the cliff road and with stunning sea views over the bay, a detached single-storey bungalow, end of a row of six. A small enclosed garden surrounds it (fields beyond) with level lawned area (picnic bench, barbecue), excellently positioned for spectacular sunsets or just taking in the uninterrupted coastal views (binoculars provided). Staggered steps (22, handrail) up from road to side path to entrance at the back. At the front, with the best sea views, living/dining room (TV/DVD, ‘living flame’ electric fire) and a double bedroom (5' bed, TV). Twin bedroom (3' and 2'6" beds, zip-linkable to 5'6" double). Smart kitchen (washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker) with breakfast table for 2. Shower-room (suite). The playing field and grass tennis court, about 350 yards; steep and, in places, rough footpath to the sandy beach. The captivating and ever-changing panoramic views make this a great coastal location at any time of year.
Whitsand Bay: 5 miles of sand and rocks, uncrowded because no roads to the shore, between Rame Head and Portwrinkle. Good surfing; HMS Scylla (sunk for marine research) attracts divers. Beach fishing; coarse fishing nearby. Cliff-top golf. Coastal walks. Millbrook, 1 mile; Kingsand/Cawsand, 2.
All ground floor: 1 x double room, 1 x twin room (zip and link beds to 5'6" double on request). Kitchen, sitting room with dining area. Shower room with shower, basin and WC.
WHITSAND BAY Set in a bowl of hills at the head of a tidal creek that leads to the Hamoaze, opposite the great naval city of Plymouth, Millbrook is located on the Rame Peninsula, "Cornwall's Forgotten Corner". Bounded by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea, the area is deeply rural and designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a good range of shops and pubs, while close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you to Plymouth. Along the southern edges of the peninsula are miles of beautiful walks with glorious views of Rame Head. Just a mile south of Millbrook lies Whitsand Bay with its miles of uncrowded sandy RNLI patrolled beach and dramatic cliffs. A superb base for discovering the wild side of Cornwall.
