The property

Resting within the desirable Somerset village of Timsbury, with easy access to Bristol, Bath and even the coast, the historic holiday cottage Crooked Well offers friends and families a beautiful base for an idyllic escape at any time of year.

The cottage enjoys a secluded location in its own cul-de-sac, within the very centre of the village, in close proximity to local amenities.

This stone-built, semi-detached cottage offers a flexible sleeping arrangement, a homely interior and a fantastic location, providing all you could need for a self-catered stay.

Enter into the dining room and pull up a chair, hanging your coats up in the convenient cloakroom, before discussing an action-packed itinerary with a refreshing beverage in hand.

The amply-equipped kitchen is home to all the essentials you could need to prepare a tasty treat for your loved ones, with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer as well as the luxuries of a dishwasher, washing machine and a tumble dryer found in the rear shed, you'll find everything you could need to enjoy a relaxing stay in Somerset.

End your evenings amongst the warmth of the electric fire in the sitting room, which can be moved if you prefer to use the open fire: there's no better spot from which to spend quality time with your loved ones.

This room also boasts a sofa bed to offer a flexible sleeping arrangement, wonderfully suited to those less able.

Move up the staircase to find the family bathroom where you can take your pick from all of a bath, handheld shower and separate walk-in shower to freshen up in, before choosing from one of two inviting bedrooms; a super-king-size with a TV, and the option to unzip the beds to form two singles, as well as another single bed being added on request for a child too!

The twin bedroom is home to two Store-a-beds, or you can make this room into a king-size and a single on request, offering a wonderful arrangement for a variety of group needs.

Soak up the sun each morning within the enclosed rear garden as your little ones play freely, where you will also find a wonderful fire pit barbecue tripod, perfect for days of sunny alfresco dining.

You will be spoilt for choice if you wish to eat or drink out with so many wonderful villages and cities in easy reach boasting a plethora of cuisines, or buy food to take away in Timsbury itself, with a local shop where you can pick up any picnic essentials as well as a delicious fish and chip shop, Our Plaice.

Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at Connie's, before treating yourself to an indulgent day at the village's salon, ready for a night out in Bath with its vibrant atmosphere at any time of day.

Timsbury thrived in the 1800s due to its busy coal mines, shipping coal 12 miles through the narrow canal finished in 1800 down in the Paulton Basin, to the Bath Kennet and Avon canal.

Iron and Bronze Age settlements were in the locality and you can still walk on Roman cobbles down Mill Lane, however the beautiful Manor House was demolished for housing in the 1960s but there are many interesting walks and wonderful views around it.

Be sure to spend a day exploring the historic wonders of Bath, the only UK city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can find plenty of enticing attractions such as the Roman Baths from which the city was named, the architectural masterpieces of the Royal Crescent and the Circus, Jane Austen Centre where you can learn more about the life of the famous writer and so much more, with plenty of shops and eateries to while away the hours in too.

In reach of Glastonbury, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and beyond, there's no better base than Crooked Well for exploring this bustling area of England.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
