The Property

In Salcombe, just 800 yards up from the quay at the end of a no-through lane, an impressive custom-built detached house (split-level foundations) with superb views over the town and estuary, bobbing with yachts and assorted boats. Everything about this house is spacious, full of light, hugely comfy and convenient. Space at the front for cars/boat, then steps down to a surrounding, enclosed garden on various levels (lawn, patio, table/chairs, barbecue).From parking area, door to big square hall (for coats/boots) and loo (tumble drier), through to large open-plan living/dining room with TV/DVD and glazed doors to balconies and those great views. Smart kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven/5-ring ceramic hob) with slate floor. At this level, two bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with en suite bathroom (suite with separate shower) and lovely long estuary views, and a twin with en suite shower-room (suite). Salcombe: one of the most beautifully sited small towns in Britain, at the mouth of the Kingsbridge estuary, a yacht haven with creeks, sandy bays. Waterside pubs, nice shops. Boats to hire, fishing, superb Nat. Trust cliff walks/gardens; museum, tennis, outdoor swimming pool (in summer); pedestrian ferry to East Portlemouth (lovely beaches, The Venus Café and Takeaway). Thurlestone and Bigbury (golf), 6 and 8 miles.

Regional Information

SALCOMBE Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles. Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
