“Really lovely stay at this pretty cottage.”

Lovely and warm in the cold damp weather. Had seen some negative comments from other people but to be honest we didn't have a problem. Felt the comments about overgrown shrubs was a bit harsh, given that it is winter and pruning won't happen until the Spring. Sofas were comfortable and we had no leaks. Felt there were some minor housekeeping issues, such as door knobs falling off, but these were minor issues and will be easily fixed. One thing that would have made the stay even better was a book for cottage renters with details of how things work, wifi password and places to eat and visit locally. Again something that is easily rectified. We would book again.

The property

In a peaceful and secluded setting, a mile from Halwell and 1½ from Harbertonford (PO/shop, pub), two cottages and three superb barn conversions at Bickleigh Farm, all sharing an indoor heated swimming pool (39' x 19' x 3' to 4'6" deep, available 8am to 8pm, occasionally also used by owners' family and friends) with toddlers' splash pool, children's play area (swings, slides, climbing frame), large trampoline and games room (pool table, table tennis, WiFi).

All are on a 300 acre working mixed farm (often lambs, calves and kittens).

Conservation walks with wonderful views to Torbay and Dartmoor have been laid out across the farmland and the properties are positioned to each have their own patio and barbecue area, and share large lawns and garden.

Professional catering available.

These are very special places to stay.

East Bickleigh (976183) and Oak Tree are the two comfortable and very attractive cottages on the same farm, converted from a 17th century farmhouse.

They share the indoor heated swimming pool, children's play area, trampoline and games room with Swallows Reach 976144, The Roundhouse 976196, The Haybarn 976197 and each has its own patio.

If booked together, Oak Tree Cottage and East Bickleigh have interconnecting doors; and the dining area in one cottage can seat 12 people - useful for one large party.

Many original features have been kept: beams, exposed stone, sash windows and large fireplaces.

Oak Tree has living room with TV/DVD, woodburner and beams, leading to conservatory with cane furniture.

Kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, gas hob/electric oven).

Upstairs (stairgates), two bedrooms - a double (5' four-poster bed) with exposed stone and woodwork, lovely views down the valley and en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower), and a twin.

Shower-room (suite).

Outside, a sitting-out area (table/chairs, barbecue).
