Toby “Perfect”
- Toby, August 2024 -
Keith “We had a wonderful relaxing stay ,just what the doctor ordered (literally) as I am due to start chemotherapy for lung cancer this week.”
I so enjoyed being able to sit comfortably looking out the window at the boats coming in and out of the harbou. Everything was there for your comfort and we appreciated the wine and cream tea ..Thank you.
- Keith, June 2024Jenny “Enjoyed our stay at Ferryside Watch and loved the views from the comfortable lounge area.”
The cottage has everything you could need for a stay in Fowey. The drive through the town was a bit daunting in a 4x4 and the garage was a definite plus. We only used the car once because of the narrow streets, however we used the Bodinnick Ferry to go to Looe and the smaller Polruan one to do two superb walks on different days. Most of the time we were out walking the SWCP which was well worth putting on your walking boots for the views. Plenty of eateries to choose from and booking advised. Would have liked a dressing table with mirror in one of the bedrooms, but adapted by using a small table and chair in front of the full length mirror in the first floor bedroom. We used the downstairs bedroom and found it very comfortable. Bedding and towels were of good quality as were the soft furnishings and window blinds. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. Did not use the oven or cook anything. We had to put the heating on boost for a couple of hours as it was a cold week and we get up early. Loved the welcome pack and would have no hesitation in staying here again. Thank you.
- Jenny, May 2024Pauline “Lovely house, very clean.”
My only issue is there were two double beds (the twin beds were together and dressed as a double) instead of one double, one twin. The notes stated you could ask for the twin to be made up as a double on request. This wss a bit awkward for our particular party of three. Otherwise, it was all very good. Thankyou
- Pauline, May 2024Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and pleased you enjoyed your holiday. I am sorry we did not receive any notification of a bed request. If you had contacted us during your stay to request a different bed configuration the Housekeeper she would have immediately done so. Property Owner
Priscilla “We had a simply wonderful time thank you.”
We explores the area endeavouring to find places that were a bit off the beaten track. Fowey is a delightful place, but thank goodness my daughter is an excellent driver!!! Although we ate out a few times, your kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed the meals we prepared ourselves. The decor was charming and we loved the times we sat in the sitting room. The garage was a uge asset. Could I suggest that you give future guests a simple plan of where it is situated as the GPS found the property easily, but of course we had driven just past the garage. After a long day - Porto to Gatwick then diverted from M25 along B roads (capeted in bluebells which were gorgeous), we then had to drive all the way from the top of town to find the right spot. My late husband and I have always delighted in our trips to the UK and the week we spent in Fowey will remain as a long to be remembered holiday.
- Priscilla, May 2024Donna “The accommodation was in an excellent location.”
It was equipped with all you need. The view over the estuary was amazing.
- Donna, May 2024Christine “Great location, wonderful house, beautiful views, just as good as our last visit.”
House is well equipped, clean and comfortable. Welcome pack very much appreciated. Always a pleasure to come back to after a day out. Will hopefully return again soon.
- Christine, April 2024Vicci “Fabulous views of the ferry from upstairs and a sunny area to sit out in.”
Wonderful walks from the cottage and idyllic swimming in Readymoney cove. Lots of nice places to eat and an EV charger in the ferry car park! Food shopping was tricky in Fowey and the small Spar closes early. Tasteful decor, especially the blinds. A tiny but useful downstairs loo.
- Vicci, April 2024David “Extremely attractive decor.”
Super clean. All facilities great , straight forward and easy to use. Great location. Excellent views from the cottage. Very useful garage. Fowey a lovely place to stay - lots of walks from the town. Both ferries very useful.
- David, April 2024Sue “Ferryside Watch and the Town of Fowey are fabulous!”
The accommodation was everything it was described to be, and the kitchen was well equipped. Fowey is a great base to day trip from and to come home to with many shops, pubs and restaurants. Our favourite holiday cottage and village to date!
- Sue, March 2024Anna “We had a lovely week’s honeymoon here, driving down to Cornwall from London the morning after our wedding.”
Beautiful rooms, cosy in rain and mist, light and airy in sunshine. Perfect to have parking so we could spend the whole week on foot - pottering round Fowey and walking the cliffs and bays on Polruan the side. Would love to return.
- Anna, February 2024Eugene “Fantastic, home from home, ideal location, brilliant stay.”
The TV has a mind of its own, which only added to the fun...!
- Eugene, December 2023John “A lovely holiday cottage in a great location with stunning views of the estuary.”
Would definitely stay again. The microwave could do with replacing.
- John, October 2023Tim “A very comfortable homely cottage, not just a holiday let but a home from home.”
Well equipped and lovely decor and furnishings, the upstairs lounge with estuary view is an added bonus. The listing accurately advises of the need to be mobile and agile due to the number of steps. Everything worked as it should , the cottage was clean and tidy , and the welcome wine and cream tea was a thoughtful and much appreciated gift. The garage is spacious for a large car and the directions were spot to help us locate it, with the RNLI shop/station being a good marker that you are close. Ferryside Watch is somewhere that we would be happy to return to and recommend to others.
- Tim, October 2023Caroline “Lovely cottage near the river ferry with a view of Daphne Du Maurier’s house.”
Location perfect with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. We particularly liked the bottle of wine left for us and the cream tea - most welcome after a long journey! We enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace with our morning coffee. A wonderful stay all round, thank you.
- Caroline, July 2023Helen “Really lovely house.”
Everything was so comfortable- bed, sofa etc. spacious and light , tasteful decoration and accessories. Thoughtful welcome pack. Stunning views and perfect location. Can’t fault it and if we come to Fowey again would definitely want to stay at Ferryside Watch.
- Helen, July 2023Yvonne “The property was exactly as we expected from the information shown.”
Having a dedicated parking place was one of the main reasons we chose Ferryside Watch and it did not disappoint. The views from the lounge windows are wonderful and both bedrooms very comfortable. The equipment and supplies were better than expected too. Perhaps the outside areas could do with some TLC and I agree with a previous comment that half the cushions could be removed and still be more than enough! Many thanks to all concerned as we had a wonderful week.
- Yvonne, May 2023Kirsty “Honestly can’t fault this wonderful house….”
We didn’t want to leave! It has a certain magic inside and outside. Thank you!
- Kirsty, May 2023Colin “We had a wonderful holiday in Fowey and this house was amazing.”
It smelled lovely when we walked in. It was immaculately clean and it had a wonderful view of the estuary from the lounge windows. We loved looking out at the view of the boats etc and at the gulls nesting on the roof below. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped, even the crockery was lovely!!! We also really enjoyed Fowey with its numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs as well as other shops. But another thing that was great about this house was that it was a flat(!) 5 minute walk away from the hustle and bustle so it was very peaceful. There was even a garage which we were so grateful for as we didn't have to think about where we would park. Thank you for sharing such a great holiday home.
- Colin, April 2023David “Lovely place to stay.”
Comfortable and plenty of utensils. Beautiful looking out at the river. Lots to do and see around Fowey. The only thing I would remark on is getting rid of so many cushions! Overall we would go back again. The owner provided wine, jam, buns, tea, coffee and milk which was very nice.
- David, April 2023Sandra “The property overall was lovely - it had everything we needed for a week away.”
Having stayed at a number of holiday homes, Ferrywatch was looking a bit tired and the outside space let it down. At the beginning of the season, you'd expect all areas to look tidy, but outside was full of weeds, a broken box that, if new, could have provided outside cushions for the chairs to sit on. It just needed some general TLC to make it look nicer. We also had problems opening some of the Windows - they seemed to be painted shut and lots of old reed diffusers in every room, which could have been replaced. When you pay so much for a week away, you do compare one house to another - Ferrywatch is a beautiful property, it just needs a good tidy.
- Sandra, April 2023Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We thank you for your comments. The garden has been attended to. Our maintenance team have taken a look at the windows, this is an old property and so sometimes in wet weather the windows can stick. The old reed diffusers have been removed and replaced with new ones. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and it's wonderful views. Property Owner
Glen “A superb property in an absolutely splendid location.”
Access will be difficult for those with any mobility issues, but otherwise faultless in every regard.
- Glen, March 2023J “A wonderful stay in a clean and comfortable cottage.”
Many thanks for the great welcome pack.
- J, February 2023Rowena “Great views and a very relaxing stay.”
WiFi faulty on arrival. However this was promptly overcome, for the most part, by providing access to next doors service. Thank you. Some consideration to the step leading to the kitchen may be worth some further thought, from a health and safety prospective. Points above aside the house was wonderful, great views and a very relaxing stay.
- Rowena, December 2022John “Property was very clean, tidy and comfortable.”
Unexpected welcome pack provisions were great and having its own parking space was bonus. A short flattish walk to the many shops, bars and restaurants. We did initially have to make two laps of the town to identify the garage as it is described as having brown doors, but they are not brown.
- John, November 2022Thank you for your feedback. We confirm the information has been update and it now does specify having dark green doors. Property Owner
Mark “A lovely little cottage with a great view over the estuary.”
Very quiet too, especially given that it was within walking distance of the town centre and situated on the only (one way) road through it. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Mark, October 2022Val “Excellent property and in a super quiet position.”
Everything worked well and beds, sofas all very comfortable Internet at times a bit unreliable but otherwise no complaints
- Val, October 2022Gay “All you could possibly want at Ferrywatch View - the name says it all!”
- Gay, September 2022Karl “Booked primarily on looks, reviews and the parking, we enjoyed our stay in Fowey and on the whole in Ferryside Watch, the stairs to the property could do with some maintenance (flora and fauna trimming back, better handrail maybe) and realise this would be a shared responsibility for those properties.”
Ferryside we felt is looking tired, mainly the Damp smell throughout the property got to us (smelly sticks in jars) around the property don't really help and, everything felt damp. Lack of proper wardrobe space, worn rugs to lounge, as were the cushion covers, broken handle to bathroom door, broken toilet roll holder and, the bottom three steps to the stairs I'd say is, (an accident waiting to happen) carpet needs attention and definitely Don't use the rusty toast rack. We found small types of bugs in the kitchen area so, didn't leave any food stuff out. Maybe a new microwave and some general maintenance is required but, if nobody tells the owners, I supposed they'd never know. We didn't touch the scones etc left for us on our arrival (because of the above) but, enjoyed the wine and the T bags and milk etc were a nice touch.
- Karl, September 2022Thank you for your feedback which you will note is in stark contrast with all previous and recent feedback. Guests who visit Ferryside have an exceptional time and their comments show a true picture of the property. Had you contacted us during your stay we would have been more than happy to have sent our housekeeper out to assist with any issues. The owner of the property has visited Ferryside Watch since your stay and did not observe any of the issues you mention. Maintenance is always planned following a very busy season where redecoration, cleaning of rugs/cushions etc will be carried out. The microwave is in perfect working order and will not be replaced, the scones are a welcome gift from the owner provided as a gesture of goodwill and enjoyed by all guests who stay. Property Owner
Beverley “Amazing place to stay - so tranquil.”
House was beautiful, Fowey was absolutely stunning, visit to Port Isaac and Lost Gardens of Heligan is a must. Highlight was paying £65 for 3 hours on a self drive 5 seater boat to explore. I didn’t want to leave and cried a little when I had to!
- Beverley, August 2022Esme “BEAUTIFUL cottage with relaxing views over the harbour (over rooftops).”
You can sit in the bay of the living room with a cuppa in the morning or cold drink in the eve and watch the sunset, the car ferry crossing and the various different boats moored and sailing. Really tranquil views but short walk to the town. Would recommend Sam's (esp the moules et frites and kids meals are great value), Brown Sugar café, Ruby's for icecream (and also icecream under the King of Prussia nr the harbour very cheap but delicious!), Haveners for drinks with a view and Fowey fish and chips are great for sitting watching the world go by. We got the car ferry over the water and drove to Polperro beach - lovely day trip. We also did the boat trip around the bay and saw Readymoney beach and the whole harbour area out to sea and back (45 mins). Eden project a bit pricey but well worth a visit (you can use the ticket for a year). Gardens of Heligan also a great day out for individuals or families. The cottage was very well equipped, plus the welcome package of tea, coffee, sugar, scones, fudge and wine was very thoughtful. Cleanliness was excellent. Cottage has been very tastefully decorated and we would definitely recommend and hope to stay again. Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Esme, July 2022Tracy “Our fourth stay at Ferryside Watch didn’t disappoint.”
We enjoyed great weather and hardly used the car as we walked everywhere and enjoyed the activity on the river and Readymoney Beach. Lovely welcome pack is always gratefully received. Only negative point was that we were woken up on our last day by the ceiling of the porch crashing down making a mess on the tiles and a huge gaping hole. No one’s fault so we cleared up the mess and left a note for the Housekeeper.
- Tracy, July 2022Christine “A beautiful property in a lovely area, easy walk into Fowey with its many restaurants and shops.”
The parking facility at the house is a real bonus. Great views of the Fowey estuary from the sitting room. A great base to visit the surrounding areas.
- Christine, May 2022Michael “Very comfortable property.”
Having the garage to park the car in this part of Fowey is fantastic! Good views of the estuary where something always seems to be going on. Overall an excellent location and we really enjoyed our stay.
- Michael, May 2022Melissa “Beautiful house with amazing views!”
The location is fantastic, the garage is a huge plus and the house was very clean. Loved the reed diffusers, so much so I’m going to buy the same ones to remind us of our stay. The welcome goodies were a really lovely touch and the house had everything we needed. The only downside was more hanging wardrobe storage would be good but that’s a minor point as we’ve had an amazing time. Thank you so much
- Melissa, October 2021Alyson “Very clean, and comfortable holiday home, the welcome hamper on arrival was much appreciated after a long journey.”
Great views over the river, it was very relaxing to sit and watch the ferry from the upstairs lounge. Nice big garage was a bonus also, so to the centre of Fowey.
- Alyson, October 2021Morwenna “Absolutely gorgeous place, fantastic views and very clean.”
- Morwenna, July 2021Claire “Superb cottage equipped to a high standard with amazing river views which kept us fascinated for hours.”
Handy location & a real bonus to have a big garage too as parking is scarce. Welcome pack was very much appreciated & would definitely return.
