    • “The first thing to say is that we did really enjoy our holiday and may well come back for a shorter break. However, there were a lot of small things that weren't quite right. Individually they weren't a big deal, but collectively they were irritating and reduced the quality of our experience. One thing (admittedly subjective) is that we found the décor to be dated and a bit shabby - lots of damaged veneer on the wood furniture, for example. It didn't feel fresh, bright and cosy, as I would want a holiday home to be. Also, there was no DVD player and it was a shame that no games or books were provided - in a family-friendly lodge you expect a few, I think (although we had brought our own). The rest of our issues were in the kitchen, and they were just small things that were - cumulatively - annoying: no sharp knife; no pepper mill; only one wooden spoon; kitchen tap would not run cold water; no washing up bowl; no draining rack; no kitchen rubbish bin (I know we should aim to recycle as much as possible - and we did - but there is bound to be some rubbish); a broken cupboard (the pull-out base level unit); leaky old washing up gloves; no long-handled broom for sweeping the kitchen floor; no normal sized dessert spoons (just large serving spoons); no ordinary teabags provided (just green, camomile and earl grey - we brought our own tea and coffee, but would expect a few to be provided as a start). For reference, our point of comparison was a holiday we took last summer through Beach Retreats at The Village, Watergate Bay, where there was nothing to fault in either the décor or the facilities.”

Mountain bikes available, by arrangement (extra). Wrapped around the hotel and lodges is a championship 18 hole golf course with driving range and pro shop; complimentary round (subject to availability, non-transferable) for all guests over 16.
