“We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Church Gate Cottage in Bridestowe - what a find!”

The cottage was extremely well equipped with good quality items throughout, furnished with comfortable sofas, chairs and beds, the kitchen and bathroom were well thought out, plenty of storage in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, everything has been thought of for the visitors and their four legged friends. The icing on the cake for us was that it was so clean and immaculate on arrival and therefore we immediately felt at home and quickly settled into the cosy cottage. We had no problems ...

We had no problems parking near to the front door and there are excellent dog walking areas really close to the cottage, one has lovely views over to Dartmoor which was uplifting on my early morning walk with our dog. Bridestowe is a very friendly village and the well stocked village store and the pub are a short walk from the cottage. We enjoyed the many National Trust properties that are in the area - Castle Drogo, Saltram, Cothele, Buckland Abbey and Lydford Gorge - all of them dog friendly and have lovely estate walks to enjoy. The Granite Way and West Devon Way are also about a mile of the cottage. There is a large stock of maps, information leaflets, dvds and games in the cottage, and the cottage instruction file is excellently presented and very clear to follow, the owners have kindly left the instruction books for all the kitchen equipment too. There is a super farmshop at Lifton plus great fish and chips in Okehampton (Graylings), Tavistock, Plymouth and Okehampton are also interesting places to visit.....we will definitely be back to explore this lovely area more. The only negative we could find was that we had to return home. We would thoroughly recommend Church Gate Cottage.
