The property

Brimpts Farm is set on the hillside above Dartmeet, spectacularly positioned amid trees and looking across the deep valley to open moorland and tors.

It is one of five ancient tenements of the moor and in 1307 passed to the Duchy of Cornwall.

The 700 acres of forests, tors, stone circles, East Dart River and open moor are traditionally farmed (mainly pedigree beef cattle) and the family have received a wildlife habitat award from HRH Prince Charles, as well as farm diversification and food producer awards.

Cream teas have been available in the farmhouse since 1914.

Half a mile of concrete drive leads to it.

Across the yard from the farmhouse is this huge, L-shaped, detached house (once a hay store, granary, shippen) with superb views, accommodating 32 people if you bunk up, or 20 very comfortably in ten double or twin bedrooms, all en suite.

Part of the joy of staying here is the range of activities available (extra).

Most popular are the farm tours by Landrover, but there is also instruction on a 30’ high climbing/abseiling tower, guided walks and orienteering.

Pony riding can be arranged.

Mountain bike routes around.

All this is set in the most beautiful of countryside.

If you prefer gentle recreation, the farm has waymarked scenic walks, including a biodiversity trail, and for the more adventurous, long walks start from the farm across Dartmoor to tors or down the Dart towards Ashburton.

Indoor facilities at Brimpts include a sauna for relaxing, an efficient drying room (washing machine, tumble drier) and table tennis.

The accommodation: in front of the barn is sheltered and south-facing decking (picnic tables, barbecue), a hot tub and a courtyard.

Main entrance into a huge room (35' x 20'6") with ceiling to the apex and glazed doors to a balustrade overlooking the terrace.

This is the living/dining room with woodburner, TV/DVD, tables/chairs, drinks fridge, and can be a conference room.

Off it is a small, efficient, stainless steel commercial kitchen with dishwashers, microwave, fridge-freezer, 6-burner gas cooker (no grill); hall and disabled loo; large hall/lounge area with TV, sofas and pool table.
