Had an absolutely amazing holiday here, the property is stunning, they have thought of everything and was so comfy and felt like home within hours. The views and area it's in are also lovely, quiet and pretty. Major supermarket about 35 mins away in Exeter but a half decent co op is in Moretonhamstead, which is about a 10 min drive. Lots of pubs and places to eat within a 10 min drive. I would love to stay here again. Susie and Colin were the perfect hosts/owners, lovely people and lovely dogs too. Thank you.
About 2½ miles from Chagford, the last ¼ mile via tarmacked drive, a south-facing detached cottage beautifully converted from a barn in front of the owners’ farmhouse (no other houses nearby).
The cottage and its sitting-out area (tables/chairs, loungers, gas barbecue) to the front have wonderful long views over rolling moorland and meadows - a wildlife haven (marsh fritillaries in May/June).
Thirty-two acres of farmland to wander (stock permitting).
Inside, modern and well finished with beams, natural colours, good fabrics.
The accommodation is over three levels.
Entrance via lower ground floor to lobby; double bedroom (6' zip-linked bed or twin) with TV/DVD, free-standing bath in window recess with uninterrupted views to Easdon Tor, en suite shower-room (suite) and door to garden; utility room (washing machine, sink).
On the middle floor, large open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, electric cooker) with woodburner, TV/DVD, iPod dock and large glazed door to outside; cloakroom with loo.
Steep ladder stairs (unsuitable for small children) to another double bedroom (6' zip-linked bed or twin, iPod dock) under the eaves with glazed end wall overlooking the living area, and pretty en suite shower-room (suite).
Limited clothes-hanging space in bedrooms.
Use of owners’ tumble drier.
A beautiful cottage in a wonderfully tranquil, timeless spot with super walking and cycling from the doorstep. Chagford: lively, friendly little town (pubs, shops, outdoor swimming pool, tennis) away from main roads in the shelter of high Dartmoor.
Past it the River Teign (fishing) hurries through woods and meadows below Castle Drogo (Nat.

About the location
Okehampton 12 miles; Exeter 21 miles.
A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Chagford, one of the five Stannary towns of Dartmoor, is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a town of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the town as well as an annual running race, known as Two Hills Race. Just over 21 miles away is the bustling, beautiful city of Exeter for a different kind of break, definitely worth a visit. The charming, attractive town of Okehampton sits just 12 miles away.
Note: Spring water.
