A mile from Aveton Gifford, 300 yards down a tree-lined track off a lane, a big roomy cottage attached by one corner to the owner’s home. Six acres of shared grounds (big fenced wildlife pond, picnic table, bench) and meadows for you to enjoy and explore (children should be supervised). Network of footpaths from the door. Parking area with shallow pond (unfenced). Ten steps (rope rail) up from parking area to entrance. Large living/dining room with inglenook (woodburner), TV/DVD/Blu-ray, wood floor (rugs) and back door to shared courtyard. Kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven/induction hob, oil-fired Aga - available 1 October to 1 May) with glazed doors to little terrace (table/chairs). Loo. Stairs (stairgates) up to landing and sitting room with double sofa bed (for alternative sleeping); immediately off this room, a bathroom (suite) and 2 steps up to a double bedroom (5' bed with footboard), formerly the hayloft (clothes-hanging space in second living room); from landing, two more bedrooms, a double and a single, and another bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Spring water. Arrival after 4pm. A snug, well-equipped retreat to return to after visiting surrounding beaches and countryside.
Aveton Gifford: old village (pub, PO/shop) beside the River Avon where it becomes tidal. Within 5 or 6 miles are several villages (Bigbury, Bantham, Thurlestone) on an excellent and varied stretch of coast: sandy beaches, coves, cliffs, golf courses, the Avon estuary (fishing, birds), pretty thatched-cottage village centres. Kingsbridge, 4 miles.

It comes with a village shop and a pub/restaurant on the outskirts. Nearby you can visit the charming market town of Kingsbridge which benefits from a range of amenities. Similarly, Ivybridge offers a choice of places to shop, eat and drink as well as providing easy access to the Dartmoor National Park which is a haven for lovers of walking and cycling.
