Reviews

    • “Moorhaven was a fantastic cottage in a great location. It was very well equipped and comfortable”

    Mr Williams, Epsom, April 2018

The Property

In the tiny edge-of-the-moor hamlet of Wonson, alongside a small, friendly pub (good food) and a lane-mile from Throwleigh, three cottages carefully and lovingly renovated from a long barn; we let two comfortable, welcoming cottages. Steep, rough track (unsuitable for low vehicles) leads to the parking area at the front, with views over the little pub garden to fields and moor beyond. Behind, each cottage has its own enclosed, private garden. A great base for exploring beautiful, dramatic moorland just a few minutes’ walk from the door.
Moorhaven is end-of-row with, behind, private garden with huge granite table/bench and good planting. Inside all hand-built, carefully designed, bright and fresh. Glazed door into spacious kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, electric cooker); small utility room (loo, washer-drier) with space for drying boots/coats. Four steps down to bright living room with woodburner and smart TV/DVD. Stairs (stairgates) up to three bedrooms - a double (5' bed) and a twin, both with en suite shower-room (suite), and, down 4 steps, a good-sized double (6' bed) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Dogs permitted in kitchen/dining area only.

Throwleigh: little village (pretty church) in lanes below Dartmoor’s edge, on the lovely Mariners’ Way walk. ½ mile to pub, and to open moor; 2 to service station (shop); 5 to Chagford and Okehampton (golf, tennis, indoor pool, leisure centre, cinema). Exeter, 18. Fishing and riding not far.
