    “Wow is all I can say.”

    the barn is just perfect from having everything you need and more, being very comfortable, being spotlessly clean, amazing showers, well kept gardens, the large hot tub and the very peaceful location. the large gazebo being either fully open or closed and having lights and heating was a big hit with us all a lovely extension to the barn. there was seven of us four adults and three teenagers but it was just perfect everyone had their own space when required and enough room when we were all ...

    the barn is just perfect from having everything you need and more, being very comfortable, being spotlessly clean, amazing showers, well kept gardens, the large hot tub and the very peaceful location. the large gazebo being either fully open or closed and having lights and heating was a big hit with us all a lovely extension to the barn. there was seven of us four adults and three teenagers but it was just perfect everyone had their own space when required and enough room when we were all together. but the icing on the cake were the owners Paul and Val two of the nicest people you could wish to meet, from making you feel very welcome the moment you arrived, showing and explaining everything in and around the barn, ideas of places to go and even leaving us fresh supplies in the fridge the perfect hosts. we've stayed in many properties over the years but we all agreed the barn along with the owners ticked all the boxes and we would return in a heartbeat

The property

Positioned amidst the rolling Devonshire countryside you will find this spectacular thatched barn conversion, Rodgemonts Barn.

Offering eight guests a fantastic base for a rural retreat on the outskirts of the village of Chulmleigh, Rodgemonts Barn is as exquisite inside as it is out, with wonderful, welcome features like a six-seater hot tub and extensive lawns.

The property boasts a reverse-level layout, with immaculately presented double bedrooms lying on the ground floor, each complete with an en-suite shower room.

A further two bedrooms are tucked above the separate garage across the lawn, both enjoying their own access, one with a spiral staircase, featuring double beds and boasting en-suite wet rooms.

Back in the barn, the stairs bring you up to the first-floor open-plan living space, a lofty, stylish room where you'll relish relaxing on the quality furnishings, with three beautiful sofas to lounge on before the huge wall-mounted Smart TV.

A long dining table with fabulous plush seating in rich, earthy hues is perfect for coming together over a delicious home-cooked meal, all beneath the high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams adding a rustic feel.

The kitchen is a lovely space with integrated appliances tucked behind muted grey cupboards including a dishwasher, washing machine, double electric oven and fridge/freezer.

Enjoy relaxing out on the decked balcony with outdoor seating and a barbecue for long summer afternoons running into the balmy evenings, or take a dip in the hot tub for a tranquil way to unwind beneath the stars.

The little ones and your four-legged friend are sure to love the beautifully maintained and extensive lawns surrounding the property, with footpaths leading into your own private woodland right on your doorstep, perfect for morning strolls to stretch your legs.

The traditional village of Chulmleigh is close by, showcasing thatched cottages and cobbled lanes, as well as a convenience store and two pubs.

It is a great place for birdwatching, with kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders and dippers regularly spotted along the quiet riverbanks.

The surrounding area is a haven for peaceful countryside walks and outdoor activities with a handful of fisheries in the area to visit for quiet afternoons on the water casting a line, as well as horse riding stables offering hacks through the rolling, luscious Devonshire landscape.

Chulmleigh is a delightful village in the heart of Devon, with a real, old-fashioned community spirit. With its narrow cobbled lanes, rows of thatched cottages, courtyards and welcoming inns it is a pleasure to wander here in this relatively unspoilt part of Devon. It is a year-round destination, with summer gardens and winter walks to enjoy. The 180-mile Tarka Trail starts in nearby Eggesford Forest, which is on the banks of the River Taw, and follows a pretty route through woodland, and offers some spectacular moorland views. Chulmleigh is particularly good for birdwatchers, who can spot kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders and dippers along the quiet riverbanks. Fishing is a popular sport in the area, with salmon and sea trout in the rivers and coarse fishing on Catham Lakes and Huntacott Water. Chulmleigh is midway between the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor and within easy reach of the rugged north Devon coast.
