    • “Caretaker info emailed was incorrect for the week we stayed. Had to contact owner. Garden isn't fully secured for small dogs, stockproof fencing needs improvement in areas. Noise from neighbours loud music one evening after 10pm. 2 days of builderswork/digging noise in adjacent field preventing enjoyable use of patio/garden (maybe more but was out for the rest). Very limited hot water for bath, had no bath water at suitable times for kids for 3 days. Resolved with electrician call out. Eco heating/solar needs better fine tuning & adjustment at random hours. Property due a good bi-annual or more deep clean in certain areas, under sofas, oven etc.”

The Property

In Throwleigh, with glorious views of surrounding moors and meadows, a semi-detached house a few hundred yards walk along a lane from open moorland. From the village lane, an ascending front path shared with friendly neighbour and a few paved steps to sunny terrace (bench); at the side and back, a mostly lawned garden (swing, outdoor toys) enclosed by hedgerow with a rustic granite path leading to patio (table/chairs) for enjoying those lovely views.From front garden, porch with smart shower-room (suite). Spacious living room with woodburner, TV/DVD and windows looking to the garden at the back and to open countryside at the front. Light and airy kitchen/dining room (slimline dishwasher, microwave, larder fridge, electric cooker, solid-fuel Rayburn) with glazed doors to garden. Utility room (washing machine, freezer) for coats/boots/dogs with back door. From hall, stairs up to three bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with gorgeous views, a twin (linkable to 6' bed), and a single, all with wood floors (rugs) and alcove rails for clothes-hanging; bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Lane parking, 10 yards. Dogs permitted in kitchen/utility/hall area only. Professional catering available. A lovely quiet spot with walking from the door (river plunge pool, prehistoric stone row and Shilstone Tor within 1 mile); good food pub at Wonson (1 mile).







Throwleigh: little village (pretty church) in lanes below Dartmoor’s edge, on the lovely Mariners’ Way walk. ½ mile to pub, and to open moor; 2 to service station (shop); 5 to Chagford and Okehampton (golf, tennis, indoor pool, leisure centre, cinema). Exeter, 18. Fishing and riding not far.

Regional Information

THROWLEIGH A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, Chagford is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a village of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the village as well as an annual running race. Just over 15 miles away is the bustling, beautiful city of Exeter for a different kind of break, definitely worth a visit. The charming, attractive town of Okehampton sits just 12 miles away.
