    • “Perfect location. Tidy, clean cosy cottage.”

    Mr Hill, Ashtead, October 2018

    • “The holiday was lovely, this included the place that we stayed, location and how easy it was to book. Would definitely use helpful holidays again.”

    Miss Glynn, Wolverhampton, July 2018

    • “Great location for a relaxing break and a stream at the end of the garden. And this part of Somerset a big suprise for first time visitors. No broadband in the cottage but after a week away from e-mails and facebook maybe this should be an option for all properties!”

Mr Box, Milton Keynes, June 2018

    • “Cottage suitable for a couple with young child- the second bedroom is very small with no real storage (under bed drawers)- very good location- walking distance of the village. Possibly too many bits and pieces so appeared cluttered.”

Mr Honychurch, Llantwit Major, June 2018

    • “The cottage was really charming. Unfortunately we had to return home early for a funeral but we still hope to return”

    Mr Francis, SLEAFORD, May 2015

    • “I think we chose an unfortunate weekend as it was extremely cold and so the all day walking we had hoped for was not an option. Pity, as the situation was ideal and the walk up to Hawcombe Head was beautiful with the colours of the beech wood and we could have gone much further if it hadn't been so extreme. I realised the cottage was small but if you had the table up to eat, play a game, jigsaw etc it blocked the stairs and space completely making it extremely awkward. That was with just 2 of us and a small dog. Because of its situation in the valley it is also very dark and so even on a sunny day little light gets in. We had brought a large box of wood which we needed as the electric wall heaters only just kept the temperature up. So a bit disappointing and probably a better summer cottage as you really didn't need the car as there were so many routes within 2-3 miles.”

    Mrs Knight, October 2018

Regional Information

PORLOCK Minehead 5.5 miles; Lynton 11 miles. Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel. The Porlock Hill takes travelers up a steep, winding road out of the village to the Exmoor Hills, where walkers, horse riders and cyclists will love the open space, where ponies and red deer roam the moors. In 2011, Exmoor was designated as Europe’s first International Dark Skies Reserve, and so this is an excellent base for a romantic evening spent gazing at the stars, where a clear night unveils an abundance of interesting constellations to the naked eye. Porlock offers the choice of sea fishing from the weir, and the reservoirs and rivers of Exmoor are only a short, scenic drive away. Golfers can stay in Porlock and enjoy one of the several courses on the edges of Exmoor, with the nearest only seven miles away. The medieval village of Dunster, where the castle dominates the skyline, makes a great day out, or take a ride on the West Somerset steam train along the coast to the little harbour village of Watchet. A fabulous village location with lots of outdoor pursuits to interest every visitor.
