“This is a delightful cottage - and the photos don’t do it full justice .”

Ideal for 2 with a dog. Comfortable and warm and very well equipped. There is a small private enclosed garden at the front and it is very pleasant sitting outside for a coffee with lovely views across the Blackdown hills . The location is great for visiting coast or countryside , Devon or Dorset . Highly recommended .

“Lovely cottage set in quiet countryside, good local walks for a very relaxing break.”

Welcoming but not obtrusive hosts. Plenty to do and see in the area, had wall to wall sunshine which must be a first for us. All in all can fully recommend the cottage.

“Really great cottage, ideal for two and a dog.”

Everything was to an extremely high standard and the owners were lovely, there if you needed them but you still felt very private and not overlooked. Plenty of places to visit all within a short drive and lovely to come back and watch the sunset set over the beautiful scenery with drink in the garden. Would recommend.

“This is our second visit to Rose Cottage because it is so clean and comfortable and has a pretty secluded garden with wonderful views.”

The owners live next door and are on hand if needed but do not intrude on your privacy. The cottage is situated in a small, quiet village with many walks close by. If you like peace and quiet this is a good place to stay.

“Beautiful location .”

. immaculate cottage. Everything you could want and more. Private even though attached to the owner .. we only saw them once when we picked up the keys but knew they were there for anything .. including more logs for the wood burner. Spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers, dog bowls and towels, biscuits and beer left for us on arrival. Couldnt have asked for more.

“We've stayed in alot of cottages and this is one of the best so far.”

It's beautifully laid out and equipped and wasn't lacking for anything at all where other cottages are often a bit lean on things like utensils and crockery. Although it's next to the owners' house, it is very private and has a lovely view from the living room/sofa out to its own garden (lovely to watch the birds on the feeder) and the fields beyond, as well as a little patio and chairs that you will see in the photos. And a handsome view from the skylight in the bedroom. Wonderful big fireplace and wood burning stove for cooler evenings. You can walk from the cottage and there are also lots of lovely walks within a short car ride of the property. Charles and Patsy were discreet whilst being very helpful when asked for anything. It's on a road but there is very little traffic and the bedroom faces the fields. Only one thing I found was that the kingsized bed was somewhat unforgiving though this could be solved with a mattress topper.

Ottery St Mary 6 miles; Lyme Regis 14.5 miles; Exeter 22 miles.

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the town’s Allhallows Museum. Honiton boasts the only public art gallery in East Devon; the Thelma Hulbert Gallery occupies an attractive Grade I listed Victorian house, and has links with the Hayward Gallery, London. Honiton is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have much to occupy the visitor. Near to Honiton is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and fabulous restaurants.
