    However we feel the cottage needs some tlc. Maximum price charged for what we felt was minimum input compared to other places we have stayed at. It would not take much money to really smarten the place up and enhance the holiday. The glasses were chipped, carpets needed cleaning and random stuff left in drawers and wardrobe which I have to say smelt musty and was dirty. The place needed a good clean. The property

In the heart of Kingswear, an 18th century terraced cottage with sensational views along the River Dart and across to Dartmouth - definitely a ships ahoy!

Not for the unfit or faint-hearted because there are 80 steps up to it from the road.

In typical 18th century style, you walk along the front of its sister cottages to your front door, with its decked terrace (tables/chairs) on two levels at the front.Living room with woodburner, TV/DVD and views to the river.

Kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven) with back door to tiny courtyard.

Steep stairs (top stairgate) up to two double bedrooms with wood floors (rugs), one with 5' bed and river view and the other with access to one side of bed only.

Bathroom (suite, 4'4" long bath with shower over).

Public car park, 300 yards.

Brilliant village shop will deliver shopping (including logs).

The terrace has unrivalled views of Dartmouth Regatta (30 August to 1 September 2018) with its spectacular fireworks and Red Arrows display.

A lovely location with lots to do, including walking, crabbing and boat and steam train trips.

Kingswear: village (P.O./pubs) at the mouth of the River Dart, across the river from Dartmouth (old town with shops).

Car/passenger ferry joins them.

Excellent base for boating.

Agatha Christie's house Greenway (National Trust), 2½ miles.

Blackpool Sands, 3½ miles.

Torbay and Brixham (sandy beaches, golf), 4½ miles; nearer, fine cliff and woodland walks past pretty coves.

Private steam railway to Paignton (resort town).
