“We had a lovely time in this cottage which was perfect for us and the dogs - particularly the enclosed garden which meant we could let them out first thing in the morning/last thing at night without being worried about them.”
Diptford is a lovely village.
Diptford is a lovely village.- Mrs Hawker, October 2019
“Lovely cottage in a very rural setting.”
Great garden for the dog to run around. Good location for all the lovely beaches and villages. Word of warning though lots of single track roads not for the nervous driver.- Mr Lovatt, October 2019
“The Old Stables is a fantastic cottage.”
The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you'd every want and more, the lounge is extremely comfortable. We were blessed with great weather so we're able to enjoy the wonderful garden and amazing views. The Cottage has a handy boot/utility room where you can store your bicycles or your sandy buckets and spades from a day on the beach. Thank you again for an other wonderful holiday.- Mrs Whitear, August 2019
“Owner of the cottage really helpful with places to go which were dog friendly including beaches and places to eat.”
A really peaceful and quiet setting for the cottage -was just what we all needed .- Ms Abraham, May 2019
“The holiday itself was as good as ever - we've been taking short early year breaks at this property for over 10 years.”
My issue is with Sykes itself, as expressed in a number of phone calls and shortly to follow-up formally by email. In that we were charged a full week's rental for a 3 night break, despite the cottage accepting short breaks and in all previous years having been charged on a pro-rata basis. I was not given appropriate information at the time of booking (that the price quoted didn't include paying the Good Housekeeping Bond up front, as had previously been the case, which disguised that you were charging me for a full week and that wasn't pointed out either) and in follow-up calls to establish why misinformation, i.e. I was told the cottage owner no longer accepted short breaks - she does (it's in the cottage description, and the owner herself confirmed to me she still did); and then that the owner had set a minimum amount they were prepared to accept, which again on following-up with the owner, she advised me was complete rubbish. It was a sad day when Helpful Holidays became part of the Sykes Group.- Miss Bramham, March 2019

“Very peaceful and comfortable cottage .”
Beautiful garden and views - great to get away from it all !- Mr Mathers, August 2018
“Our third visit to The Old Stables.”
It is comfortable ,spacious and well equipped. We particularly like the large enclosed garden which was ideal for our dog. The locality of the cottage is excellent for visiting nearby towns and attractions. The owner , Mrs Tregellis was very welcoming and friendly. Thouroghly enjoyed our holiday and would consider visiting this property again.- Mrs Davis, August 2018
“The kitchen, dining area and bedrooms were lovely.”
The living room was OK but the sofa was very uncomfortable. The upstairs bathroom was OK but would benefit from another shower. The downstairs toilet and shower were not pleasant to use. The shower was too small and there were lots of spiders in this room and I and my husband were unable to use it, as we felt uncomfortable, our friend, however, did use it. This shower room was inside the house but felt like an outhouse when using it. The garden was lovely, as were the owners who brought us our morning paper every day.- Mrs Emmett, July 2018
“Just absolutely great for those who are looking for detox, quiet beauty and solitude in the country.”
Many thanks to Patricia and her husband for their gracious welcoming and attention to little details. Marina- Dr Gashinova, July 2018
