Reviews

    • “Reminder need to be good with stairs and no view of the Dart actually from the property but a short walk away stunning views.”

    Mrs Iliffe, WORTHING, September 2018

    • “The cottage was great. Clean and well equipped and very comfortable with the exception being the mattresses,we tried them all they were all very hard. Please they need to be better quality. Loved the shower. The village was a very pleasant place to stay, also very close to Dartmouth which we love. ***Owners response*** We are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Bows. We are intending to replace all of the beds over the Winter. Thank you again for your kind feedback.”

    Mrs Garrett, POOLE, September 2018

    • “Positive: Comfortable and extremely well equipped. Good quality cotton linen and towels and so much china. Very pretty and very quiet village (out of high season). Useful shop, café and pubs. Greatly appreciated the milk, flowers, tea and coffee on arrival together with loo rolls, kitchen rolls, soap etc. Negative: All beds past their "use by dates" and really not comfortable as you could feel the wobbly springs in the mattresses. The double room is a tight squeeze for two adults to share. For such a large living room the TV is really a bit small. Better instructions for switching on hot water and heating. There are a lot of quite awkward stairs which could be a problem for some people. Dittisham Court was not as expected as Bows is part of a mini development of 30-40 houses and flats most of which appeared to be holiday lets or second homes and not quite the cottages as described in the original details which we thought were part of a barn conversion on their own! However as it was very quiet it was pleasant and had easy parking which is a bonus in Dittisham! Easy to get to many places by road and or ferry and some excellent restaurants in Dartmouth. .**** Helpful Holidays Response **** Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay as Dittisham Court is a really special place, each property individually styled in keeping with the beautiful village of Dittisham, with the listed and conservation status at the heart of the Court. Looking at each of your points in turn, then the owners would like to assure you that until recently they’ve never experienced an issue with the mattresses. The owners are planning to replace the mattresses over the winter to ensure the property continues to be maintained to its excellent level. The double bedroom is cosy, and as you say, the reason we mention the open plan stairs in the copy is that young children in particular can find these awkward. The pictures shown online accurately portray the cottage, the stairs and the grounds around it (and also clearly show the TV size in the living room). We’re sorry that you had difficulty with the hot water controls, and we understand the caretaker was able to talk you through the controls when you gave her ring. However, the owners can certainly review the instructions over the winter. We do hope you will continue to book cottages through ourselves, and enjoy exploring some other beautiful areas.”

    Mrs Bird, Cirencester, September 2018

    • “We could not have wished more for our week here. The property was spacious and well equipped. There is a very pleasant outside seating area with village view. Its beautiful surrounds with lovely river views, the village of Dittisham and the area in general provided us with plenty to see and experience. So peaceful, the only sounds being occasional soft bell chimes from village church and birdsong.”

    Mrs O'Donnell, Melbourne, June 2018

    • “Towels too small and Only enough towels for 2 , there were 3 of us. Double bed mattress needs replacing .the double room is too small couldn’t open wardrobe doors and bedside cabinets level with your eye .The television is extremely small and archaic. The amount of notes everywhere is excessive couldn’t move for them. Didn’t feel safe as the front door did not lock properly. This cottage was not up to the standard we expect from helpful holidays. We cut our holiday short as we were so uncomfortable .**** Helpful Holidays Response **** Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear of the issues reported and that as a result you chose to go home early. We’ve spoken with the owners of the house who have also expressed their concern. Looking at each of the points in turn, they would like to let you know that until recently they’ve never experienced an issue with the mattresses. They plan on checking these immediately and will replace if necessary. The front door has a couple of locks and can be completely secured with its main Yale lock. The double bedroom is cosy, however you can open the wardrobe doors. The pictures shown online accurately portray the room (and also clearly show the TV size in the living room). We’re sorry again that on this occasion you were disappointed and do hope you won’t be put off from returning with us again in future.”
