Graham “Enfield is a lovely property situated in quiet area.”
The house was extremely well furnished with plenty of the everyday appliances one would need at hand. The information provided at the property was very helpful. The nearby facilities were within walking distance for those basic essentials. 'Piggy in the middle' provided us with a very good meal and the local bars were very good. There are plenty of enjoyable walks roundabout the area. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to the area again in the near future and if available, staying at Enfield. Thank you to the owners and in particular to the cleaner for providing us with an exceptionally well presented house for us to stay.

- Stephen, September 2023John “The property is spacious, comfortable and was spotlessly clean.”
Good facilities. It also has a nice decking area in the garden out the back. The owner was very quick to respond to a small issue we had. Some great places nearby for walking. Good place to stay!
- John, September 2023John “Very clean, comfortable and well equipped.”
Parking in the road outside is a little challenging. A short walk to the village centre.
- John, August 2023Matthew “What a lovely well maintained property was very well furnished and stocked very cosy and comfortable would definitely holiday there again.”
The owner Debbie is a very nice lady and nothing is to much trouble we had a lovely stay and the cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the coast. The Exmoor Coaster is an lovely open top bus that goes just round the corner from the cottage goes right upto Ilfracombe through Coombe Martin and Lynmouth the views in Exmoor were breathtaking and we would recommend you try this as well.
- Matthew, July 2023Thank you so much for the lovely feedback and for your assistance in regards to sorting the shower out I am so pleased you all had a pleasant time Take care Debbie Property Owner

Barbara “CH could have been on for less time to save on energy and money.”
- Barbara, May 2023Catherine “This was a lovely property; well-maintained, well-equipped, clean and comfortable.”
There was plenty of room for the five of us to comfortably relax in the living room and eat around the dining table. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed, even cooking oil and spices, which is really helpful when on a self- catering holiday. The decor was modern and fresh and it was clearly a much loved home. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and impeccably clean. The location was fantastic, a brief walk to the Main Street and lots of lovely country and seaside walks on the doorstep. It provided a great base from which to explore the local area. The owner was friendly when communicating and the process of booking through Sykes was very easy. We would recommend the property to anyone and are looking to return.
- Catherine, February 2023Bless you for the lovely feedback The house is well loved and we do our best for all our guests to enjoy their visit at Enfield Debbie Property Owner
Philip “The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your comfortable house.”
Thank you for the milk etc and particularly for providing the Christmas tree and decorations. Very thoughtful. This part of the country is beautiful, with some lovely walks. The house is in a perfect position for both the walks and the shops, pubs and cafes in Porlock.
- Philip, December 2022Rebecca “This is a lovely property in a great location.”
There really is everything you could possibly need in the house and lots of fun things to do whilst out and about!
- Rebecca, October 2022Kerry “We really enjoyed our stay.”
Enfield is decorated to a high standard and has a very homely feel. The mornings & evenings are blissful sitting out in the garden and the walks around Porlock are very pretty. Everything spot on for a family of 5. The only thing I would ask to be more clear is process around the bins, we were a little unsure. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.
- Kerry, August 2022Jacqueline “Had a lovely holiday, could not have had a better place to stay.”
Very clean and everything was just how we all wish for. Thank you
- Jacqueline, May 2022Melanie “We had the most wonderful week at Enfield.”
The perfect base for exploring Exmoor. The property is well equipped & warm & cosy. A lovely place to unwind after a day exploring with extremely comfortable beds. Set in a quiet country lane with a short stroll to the shops.
- Melanie, March 2022Stephen “Spacious will accommodated and yet cosy for six adults.”
Great position close to ammenities and walks. Nice touch to be welcomed by a Christmas
- Stephen, December 2021Rebecca “The house was perfect, it went above and beyond our needs.”
There was plenty of space and it set in a beautiful and peaceful location.
- Rebecca, October 2021Brian “This is just the most perfect holiday & relaxation property.”
It is beautifully presented and cleaned to a high standard. It has all that you need for a long or short stay. The property is very centrally located but is on a quiet street just 5 minutes walk from the High Street that has cafes, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets. It is also within a short distance of several lovely footpaths. There is a lovely garden with this property too. Sykes says that there is no Wi-Fi but in fact there was and it worked perfectly! We got parking outside the property.
- Brian, September 2021Carol “The house was so comfortable and and the decorating and furnishings were excellent.”
Great location Porlock 5 mins walk away with good pubs and restaurants. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
- Carol, July 2021Stephen “Lovely cottage in a beautiful village, will definitely return”
- Stephen, June 2021Stephen “Yes, 4 adults stayed at the cottage.”
There was a lot of space and the house was decorated to a very high standard. We all commented that it was like being at home. The owners we would guess use the house frequently. As stated it was home from home, not items being bought for a rented house which most people would never buy. Well done owners for providing first rate accommodation ( a lot of thought had gone into the design and furniture ) at a reasonable price. These were the considered views of all 4 adults. - Stephen, October 2020Mark “Amazing cottage in an amazing location”
- Mark, October 2020John “An excellently and tastefully furnished property, owners have provided everything you could need ,its cosy, comfortable and is in a beutifull part of the world ,it would get full marks if only it had a dedicated parking space, the house is on a narrow lane with parking outside 0ne side of the lane only and we could only park on the whole lane once in the week we stayed.”
To be fair to the owners they did mention they could not guarantee your parking and we found a place every day not to far away so to us it wasn't a big issue on the whole an excellent stay and deal
- John, September 2020Stephen “A lovely cottage with everything you need in a great location, near to the local shops and places to eat.”
There are lots of nice walks from the cottage and a short drive to explore more of the coast and Exmoor. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, We had a wonderful stay, thank you!
- Stephen, July 2020Debbie “Absolutely beautiful place to stay.”
So nice we've booked to spend our Christmas here
- Debbie, March 2020Rebekah “Absolutely love this beautiful cottage.”
We returned to this same gorgeous place after staying Christmas 2018 and will return again. It is in the perfect location, facilities are brilliant and the cottage is so comfy and homely. The bedding and towels smell so fresh and the bedding and bed are the comfiest. Highly recommend x

- Sarah, August 2019Helen “We liked the house very much and Porlock is a nice, friendly village in which to stay within easy reach by car of several nice beaches.”
A good place to take children, particularly if they enjoy fossil hunting! In fact, all three generations of our family enjoyed themselves. Somerset is lovely and we fully intend to revisit sometime, hopefully soon.
- Helen, August 2019John “Excellent location in a lovely village.”
Warm welcome from neighbours and villagers. Beautiful countryside to explore. (Minor quibble about the cottage...hardly any cereal/pudding spoons).
- John, May 2019Paul “Fantastic rental, well equipped wonderful location.”
- Paul, March 2019Rebekah “Absolutely loved staying in this gorgeous house.”
It’s more like a home than a holiday home. Perfect location too in the beautiful Porlock. Would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting a perfect stay in Porlock.
- Rebekah, December 2018Stephen “There were 4 adults and we all enjoyed staying at the cottage.”
It was roomy and the kitchen was like a second lounge. There was a good selection of DVD'd which we didn't use on this occasion and the instructions for the use of facilities were spot on. We initially had a problem with the wifi but the owners were very helpful in sorting this out -the rest of the week it worked perfectly. Yes we would highly recommend this cottage it is a very high standard at a reasonable price.
- Stephen, October 2018Christine “The cottage was very nice and clean only about ten minutes from the shops .”
lots of activities to see and do only draw back is that you have to drive out and about to see them .The person who said that the beach is about 10 minutes away was not telling you the truth more like 35 minutes away down a very long path to not a beach but lots of pebbles no sand .we went in all the pubs 3 in all and the people were very nice and chatty the food was all home made .The road the cottage is on is very tight and winding road with first come and first served parking ,but there is parking at the top of the road .
- Christine, August 2018Stephen “Secluded garden with spacious bedrooms and decorated beautifully.”
Great spot for travelling.
- Stephen, July 2018Julia “Great cottage, very comfortable and spacious and the garden gets the sun most of ...”
Great cottage, very comfortable and spacious and the garden gets the sun most of the day and has a good range of patio furniture
- Julia, June 2018Bernard “We found parking to be easier than expected.”
Just took turns with other residents as spaces became available. Only drawback for one of our party was the lack of a toilet on the ground floor, but house very adequately provided with bathrooms and toilets. Very central for various facilities, including shops, pubs for meals and local places of interest.
- Bernard, May 2018Penny “Our 22nd walking holiday with friends staying in cottages all over Britain, Enfield was certainly in the top three.”
The location, comfort, extremely well equipped, quirky cottage ticked all the boxes for our annual break.

Both bins were full on arrival and we could not find anywhere local to dispose of our rubbish.

About the location
PORLOCK
Minehead 5.5 miles; Lynton 11 miles.
Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel. The Porlock Hill takes travelers up a steep, winding road out of the village to the Exmoor Hills, where walkers, horse riders and cyclists will love the open space, where ponies and red deer roam the moors. In 2011, Exmoor was designated as Europe’s first International Dark Skies Reserve, and so this is an excellent base for a romantic evening spent gazing at the stars, where a clear night unveils an abundance of interesting constellations to the naked eye. Porlock offers the choice of sea fishing from the weir, and the reservoirs and rivers of Exmoor are only a short, scenic drive away. Golfers can stay in Porlock and enjoy one of the several courses on the edges of Exmoor, with the nearest only seven miles away. The medieval village of Dunster, where the castle dominates the skyline, makes a great day out, or take a ride on the West Somerset steam train along the coast to the little harbour village of Watchet. A fabulous village location with lots of outdoor pursuits to interest every visitor.
