“It is a cosy and comfortable place to stay with a great dog friendly garden.”

Very peaceful. Wi fi is excellent and kitchen well stocked with equipment. It is down some fun country lanes but worth the 10 minutes or so of anticipating meeting something coming the other way. Would go again.

The property

Along a country lane on the edge of the tranquil hamlet of Dunkeswell Abbey, half a barn converted into an interesting, rustic-looking, wood-clad cottage, light and airy inside.

Good-sized garden (table/chairs, barbecue) overlooking the owner's apple orchard and small field.

Inside, little glass-panelled lobby; pine-floored, L-shaped living/dining room with TV/DVD, iPod dock and French windows to terrace and garden; well-equipped modern kitchen (slimline dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, electric cooker) with stable doors to terrace; bathroom (suite with separate shower).

Stairs up to small landing (5'6" headroom), off which two bedrooms under the eaves, both overlooking the garden and with limited clothes-hanging space - a double with low sloping ceilings and Velux window, and a twin with dormer window; loo (5'8" lintel, sloping ceiling).

Outside is a utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, sink and space for your bicycles.

Spring water.
