Cathie “We had a family celebration for 3 generations and Northill was a perfect venue.”
- Cathie, May 2022 -
Kelly “We loved our stay at Northill.”
The photos do not do justice to what a comfortable, spacious, thoughtfully appointed home this is. The setting is stunning. We stayed with our two small boys (ages 2 and 4) who adored the stream running past the front door, the cows greeting us in the morning, and the various other creatures we encountered. Adults loved the many wood-burning fires with plentiful wood, the gorgeous kitchen, comfortable beds, excellent showers, and especially the main sitting room with the giant hearth, cosy sofas, and beautiful views. We would definitely stay again.
- Kelly, October 2021Ken “Amazing house in an amazing location, a perfect place to chill with nature.”
We had a fantastic holiday there and created many beautiful memories. The only downside was the narrow approach lane which sadly cost us a tyre on the last day.
- Ken, September 2021Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you found Northill an amazing house and a perfect place to chill and relax. We are really sorry to hear you damaged a tyre on your last day. The lane approaching the entrance to Northill is narrow but is negotiable however during the year due to various reasons beyond our control stones can move. This coming winter will provide us an opportunity to repair and push back any encroaching areas to ensure easier access in future. *Update February 2022* We'd like to let all prospective visitors know that over the winter significant work has been undertaken to widen the access lane. Trees and hedges have been cut/ removed and walls have been pushed back and rebuilt, widening the lane at all pinch points. *Update February 2022* We'd like to let all prospective visitors know that over the winter significant work has been undertaken to widen the access lane. David “A fantastic property, but restricted road access.”
Ample room for our family of 10. Quiet and secluded
- David, August 2021Thank you for completing your feedback following your stay at the delightful Northill. Although the lanes to this property are narrow, this is typical for this part of Dartmoor. Careful negotiation of the lanes does provide a big payoff at the end as the main entrance to Northill is wide and long and not at all restricted with plenty of parking. The local oil company visits with their smallest tanker and other vehicles have included large Range Rovers that get down the narrowest lane to the main entrance . Once on Northill the views and privacy more then compensate for the initial narrow access! *Update February 2022* We'd like to let all prospective visitors know that over the winter significant work has been undertaken to widen the access lane. Trees and hedges have been cut/ removed and walls have been pushed back and rebuilt, widening the lane at all pinch points. Property Owner
Sue “We had the most fantastic time at Northill Farm, the location is breathtaking with so much to enjoy in and around the house, it was almost surplus to requirements to leave the property, but we did enjoy exploring this area of Devon.”
We were a party of 6 adults and 1toddler, the garden birds, bunnies and local cows were a big hit with the 2 year old and the games room and fire pit a massive hit with the rest of us. Many happy memories to treasure of happy family time. This is truly a house of plenty, thank you for deciding to let it, I'm confident we'll return.
- Sue, June 2021Ian “We had a fantastic stay at Northill.”
The house had beautiful rooms and bedrooms and were very clean. The lovely bread, eggs, bacon etc were very much appreciated! The The garden and grounds were so beautiful with waterfall, beautiful plants, rabbits, cows and nesting birds, so peaceful ! The teenagers and the adults loved the games room and exercise machines. We would love to come back!
- Ian, June 2021Alison “The house was amazing - it had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable.”
Set in the glorious countryside of East Dartmoor, the property is reached via narrow and winding, rock lined Devon lanes. It is so quiet and peaceful with no other houses nearby, apart from Northill Lodge (a separate self catering property) immediately adjacent to the house. The views are wonderful and there is a small stream tumbling over mini waterfalls past the front door and into the field below. There is plenty of space for everyone with a well equipped games room, 30 acres to roam and wonderful walks on the doorstep. The housekeeper was very friendly and helpful and had provided a fantastic welcome hamper of food and drink on our arrival. The cost was certainly higher than we would normally pay for a holiday house but the property is spectacular.
- Alison, June 2021Len “We have used several Dartmoor rentals previously, but this one was outstanding and provided the best combination of antiquity, location, cleanliness and facilities.”
We absolutely loved Northill and it provided everything we expected and more. The rooms are superb and the furnishings very high quality (particularly the mattresses!), welcome hamper was well beyond my expectations, heating works well, showers are the best ever, mobile phones work well on site, there are sometimes deer in the garden, good footpaths and the leat that bubbles past the door provides redoubled charm. So good we are considering booking again in a few weeks time. The reception from Maddy was brilliant and she provided answers to all of our questions, as well as a bunch of local contacts. It is very hard to find criticisms, but if pushed I could say that the internet is good at one end of the house, not so hot at the other, and the entrance drive (which we all found both daunting and ultimately exciting) was a bit of a shock to delivery drivers - one of whom chickened out. When we return we may arrange to meet big vans at the top of the drive, just to be sure - but don't let that put you off - it all adds to the character of this stunning house and the incredibly relaxed holiday it enables.
- Len, April 2021Thank you very much for such lovely comments, we're really delighted to know how much you liked Northill and how good a time you had. We hope we'll see you again soon! *Update February 2022* We'd like to let all prospective visitors know that over the winter significant work has been undertaken to widen the access lane. Trees and hedges have been cut/ removed and walls have been pushed back and rebuilt, widening the lane at all pinch points. Property Owner
