The Property

Hidden in rolling Devon countryside a mile from Farway, at the end of 500 yards of hardcore track and across the courtyard from the owner’s beautiful farmhouse, a sweet cottage converted from a barn. Views from the cottage over the estate (shoots on Saturdays from October to March) to woods beyond, where you’re welcome to wander (shared with the owner’s horses, alpacas, sheep and free-range chickens; areas occasionally restricted for schooling horses). To the front, small lawned garden (picnic table). Inside, all one level and light and spacious with beams to apex, stripped floors and good furniture. Good-sized living/dining room with woodburner and TV/DVD/Blu-ray; compact but efficient kitchen (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, electric cooker). Double bedroom (6' sleigh bed, limited clothes-hanging space). Bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Spring water. No children. No smoking in the grounds. A welcoming, rural base from which to explore this fabulous area.






Farway: valley farming village (church) in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. Honiton, 3 miles; Colyton (shops, pubs, tramway to Seaton), 4; the sea and ‘Jurassic Coast’ at Beer and Branscombe, 4 miles; Sidmouth, 8; Lyme Regis (old harbour town), 12.
