The Property

On the embankment in Kingsbridge, a neat and practical base - one of sixteen individual apartments hidden from the road behind a quayside Victorian former customs store. Access to the apartment is via a lift (easy for people with limited mobility) from the covered, private parking (6'6" maximum vehicle height) or via steps. The apartment has an unusual amount of outdoor space with a terrace to each side, one (table/chairs) offering estuary glimpses and Mediterranean planting; the other (furniture), accessed from the double bedroom, is more secluded. Inside, the apartment is smart and comfortable. Good-sized open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker) with TV/DVD and French windows to terraces. Two bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite) and French windows to side terrace, and one with two singles. Bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Washing machine in hall cupboard. No children under 8. An owner-loved and enjoyed holiday home and a wonderful base for exploring the South Hams by boat, bus or car.

Kingsbridge: small market town (excellent shops, good pubs, leisure centre with indoor pool) and waterfront (sailing, paddleboarding, motor boats) at the head of the many-creeked Kingsbridge estuary (boat trips) leading to the sea at Salcombe. Bantham beach, 4 miles. Tremendous variety of beautiful places and things to see/do within 5 or 6 miles.

Regional Information

KINGSBRIDGE Salcombe 5 miles; Dartmouth 12 miles; Totnes 13 miles; Plymouth 20 miles. The busy little town of Kingsbridge lies at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of South Devon. During the summer season there are river excursions to Salcombe to see the abundant wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which also forms part of the South Devon Heritage Coast. Visitors can take a walk along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street or visit the Shambles, an Elizabethan market arcade. Around the South Hams area there are picturesque ports, such as Dartmouth and Salcombe, together with sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands near Stoke Fleming and the two sandy beaches at Thurlestone. There are a host of small attractive villages in South Hams offering interesting pubs, local farm produce shops and pretty rows of cottages, plus further afield the waterfront city of Plymouth is a vibrant centre housing the National Marine Aquarium, historic Barbican Quay and plenty of night life, including theatres, restaurants and bars.
