There were big dents in the mattress that meant we slept really poorly throughout. The tv channels and set up was also poor. It advertised as some satellite channels. This is not true. There are several other small touches that could change this to an incredible experience that largely centre on the relationship with the hotel They do not offer the service to those in Sykes lodges as they do other customers. Otherwise a positive experience Rubbish is not collected. New towels not provided etc. The baby equipment provided was not up to standard. High chair broken and cot broken before we arrived. Stair gates worked well l There are many positives thoug

Outside are hard and grass tennis courts (lessons available), croquet lawn (seasonal) and children's climbing frame, trampoline, slide and swings.

Supervised playroom for children under 8 (extra, available school holidays and half-terms) with arts and crafts, egg collecting and ferrets; 8 to 14 year olds can join the Bovey Rangers (school holidays only, extra) for activities ranging from rock climbing to survival skills.

Optional activities for adults include archery, rifle shooting, fly fishing, falconry (daily display), riding, clay pigeon shooting and cider and sloe gin making.

Mountain bikes available, by arrangement (extra).

Wrapped around the hotel and lodges is a championship 18 hole golf course with driving range and pro shop; complimentary round (subject to availability, non-transferable) for all guests over 16.

For something a little quieter, there's the 275 acre estate to roam (wellies provided).
