    Mr Norman

“Gillyweed is a wonderful location for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, whatever the weather.”

But for those looking for exercise or good food there are three good pubs within walking distance and several great walks.

The property

At Bridgend, the foot of the Newton creek which divides Noss Mayo from Newton Ferrers, a smart, waterside, terraced cottage, one of nine converted from a former malthouse.

Designed to make the most of wonderful views of the water and surrounding hills.

To the front, small shared lawn, parking and use of slipway into the tidal creek.

Inside, the cottage is modern, bright and stylish, decorated with original art and comfortable furniture.

Stairs from hall up to open-plan living/dining/kitchen with glazed folding doors to balcony with the ever-changing creek view: kitchen area (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, oven with eye-level grill/induction hob, wine fridge) smartly fitted with brushed chrome, marble and glass; sofas, TV/DVD, iPod dock and extending dining table fill the rest of the space.

Stairs up to second floor and two bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with TV, views and French windows to balcony, and in the eaves (some restricted height) a neat twin (limited clothes-hanging space) and smart bathroom (suite plus hand-shower).

On the ground floor, third bedroom with two cabin-style single beds (limited clothes-hanging space).

Shower-room (suite).

Garage (washing machine, tumble drier).

A fabulous, well thought out house in a beautiful creek-side setting. Newton Ferrers/Noss Mayo: adjoining small villages beside the River Yealm estuary, sheltered by oak-wooded hillsides, popular for sailing, lovely for walking or just sitting.

Essential shops (Newton Ferrers) and good food pubs.

Low tide footpath across the creek.

Tennis courts; riding stables.

Pedestrian ferry to coast walk to Wembury (village), and secluded beach.

Mothecombe (nearest sandy beach by car), 4 miles.

Plymouth, 11.

About the location

NOSS MAYO

Newton Ferrers 1 mile; Plymouth 10 miles

The charming creek side village of Noss Mayo is hidden away on the banks of the beautiful Yealm Estuary. The area is blessed with many coastal and countryside walks. Local beaches, Stoke and Cellars are just a three-quarters of a mile walk. The village is home to two excellent waterside pubs with river views, both of which offer superb meals using the best of local produce.
Across the water, the village of Newton Ferrers, which has a local butcher, chemist, Post Office and general grocery store, may be reached on foot via causeways at low tide. A seasonal ferry also operates between Noss Mayo, Newton Ferrers and the SW coastal path to Wembury. The surrounding South Hams area is well known for its award-winning, sandy beaches and also for the breath-taking beauty of the Dartmoor National Park. All are all within easy reach, as are interesting towns and villages such as Totnes, Salcombe, Dartington and Modbury. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.

Note: Some restricted height and limited clothes-hanging space in top floor twin bedroom.
