“We were very disappointed for the following reasons 1.”

The desk top fridge was totally inadequate for a one week stay 2. The microwave oven was totally inadequate for a one week stay 3. There were no external bins and the bin liners from the previous residents were still on the street presenting a health hazard 4. The low beams in the bedroom caused head cuts that have still not healed 5. We were charged £70 for cleaning a carpet that we did not damage. 6. Parking outside was impossible 7. There was inadequate storage for clothes for two people for a week 8. The bathroom door was impossible to close 9. After staying in holiday cottages for 40 years without penalties this was the first time we were accused of any damage, which was unjustified. 10. No warnings were given regarding the inadequacies and lack of facilities. 11. The rental was completely overpriced.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of the issues you raise. We have checked the description we provide for The Boot Room and believe it describes the property exceptionally well, bijou, meaning small but attractive! A desk top fridge was provided as it was assumed guests would shop daily at the variety of well stocked locally produced shops in the village of Chagford. The microwave is of standard size. The bin situation was an oversight by the council and totally out of the owners control, an annual fee is paid for the collection of the waste and we apologise if this was overlooked on this one occasion. A sign is provided within the property to alert guests to the beams. Parking is clearly advertised within the bullet points of the description, we do not guarantee a parking space outside of the property. The public car park which is only a few minutes walk away costs £3 for a full day and is free to park overnight. The bathroom door is solid wood and admittedly warps depending on the temperature of the weather. Unfortunately on your departure it was found that the hessian rug within the property had, what appeared to be a large oil stain, which despite several attempts the owner was unable to remove. The owner takes their letting of The Boot Room very seriously and pride themselves on giving good holiday experiences and we have every confidence this will continue to be the case moving forward. “Perfect place to stay for exploring the Dartmoor National Park.”

In the centre of what I can only describe as the perfect village of Chagford. The cottage itself was delightful! Our dog particularly loved the little snook reserved for him under the stairs. I was very impressed with how the space has been used, beautifully presented and bright. Comfortable sofa and bed. Loved the little dining area and kitchen. Showroom was perfectly clean and loved the underfloor heating. Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay at the Boot Room!

A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Chagford, one of the five Stannary towns of Dartmoor, is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and a seasonal, open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a town of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the town as well as an annual running race, known as Two Hills Race.
