  • “This is an amazing cottage isolated in the woods near to Porlock Weir.”

    The property was very comfortable and suited our needs. The feature Garden/Patio probably could have been clearer as there was a small patio to the rear but no garden. The South West Coast path was 30 seconds from the house plus numerous other places suitable for families were in comfortable driving distance. Overall we would recommend, and definitely return.

The property

A mile from Porlock Weir and 2 miles from Porlock, alongside The Worthy Toll Road (private road, few cars, stunning views) which leads up to Culbone, a Victorian gamekeeper’s cottage set above a stream and surrounded by tranquil mixed woodland (pheasants, deer) criss-crossed by foot and bridle paths.

At the back, a small enclosed gravelled porch with views down the valley.

Inside, all on one level, bright and welcoming.

Front door to small porch and step up to large living room with open fire, red leather sofas and TV/DVD and good-sized kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker).

Step down to utility room (washing machine), great for walking gear and dogs.

From the living room, door to double bedroom (5' bed) leading to a twin bedroom (truckle) and, through this bedroom (or accessed via the utility room), a bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

Spring water.

Dogs permitted in utility room/kitchen only.

A true bolt hole in a beautiful hidden location with Exmoor’s highest and most spectacular walking and cycling country on the doorstep. Porlock Weir: pretty hamlet (restaurant, pub, shops) around a tiny, ancient harbour and pebble beach, 1½ miles west of Porlock.

England’s smallest church at Culbone is 1 mile away, and all around Exmoor’s oak woods and heather hills - wonderful for walkers.

Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel
