Spotlessly clean and cosy with roaring open fire and comfortable beds. Wooded walks straight from the door and coast path to Porlock Weir close by. Very atmospheric and calming environment.

“I did respond to the owner giving her feedback as follows: "We had a good time and found Lovelace, quiet, roomy, well equipped and very comfortable if a little quirky (bathroom access).”

We walked to Porlock Weir - a delightful place - most evenings round the village and along the beach. During the days we traveled out by car along that awful toll road – not so good but that aside within easy reach of many delightful places although we would normally have based ourselves nearer Lynmouth. We found the information pack that you sent most informative and were particularly interested in the Lytton and Lovelace history so many thanks for your help"

The cottage wasn’t listed as ..‘wheelchair friendly’ but it is! We have a daughter with cerebral palsy...the cottage was more than adequate..in fact she loved it! (As did we..and our Jack Russells!)

It would be very difficult to find any fault with the property as the owners maintain a very high standard of cleanliness and repair. We liked the Welcome pack of essentials ie Tea , sugar , milk and biscuits as we arrived quiet late together with Storm Dennis . We would not hesitate to book the cottage again

The property

A mile from Porlock Weir and 2 miles from Porlock, alongside The Worthy Toll Road (private road, few cars, stunning views) which leads up to Culbone, a Victorian gamekeepers cottage set above a stream and surrounded by tranquil mixed woodland (pheasants, deer) criss-crossed by foot and bridle paths.

At the back, a small enclosed gravelled porch with views down the valley.

Inside, all on one level, bright and welcoming.

Front door to small porch and step up to large living room with open fire, red leather sofas and TV/DVD and good-sized kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker).

Step down to utility room (washing machine), great for walking gear and dogs.

From the living room, door to double bedroom (5' bed) leading to a single bedroom (with truckle) and, through this bedroom (or accessed via the utility room), a bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

Spring water.

Dogs permitted in utility room/kitchen only.

A true bolt hole in a beautiful hidden location with Exmoors highest and most spectacular walking and cycling country on the doorstep. Porlock Weir: pretty hamlet (restaurant, pub, shops) around a tiny, ancient harbour and pebble beach, 1½ miles west of Porlock.

Englands smallest church at Culbone is 1 mile away, and all around Exmoors oak woods and heather hills - wonderful for walkers.

Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel
