Running through the heart of the village is the longest single spine of connected 16th and 17th century thatched cottages in England. Surrounding the village are a number of very scenic local walks, and the village itself is actually an integral part of the Two Moors Way, a walk connecting Dartmoor to the north and Exmoor to the South.
