“This is a lovely, charming cottage in a beautiful location on Dartmoor.”

The rooms are comfortable, there is a gorgeous stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. On arrival the rooms were decorated with flowers and were was a welcome hamper left for is - a great touch. Very comfortable, quiet and beautiful. It has a lovely garden and you can sit out in the morning and hear the birds. It's near the village of Chadgford and Castle Drogo and the Stone Lane Gardens are walking distance. However, it was advertised as having access to Wifi but this was not working ...

Very comfortable, quiet and beautiful. It has a lovely garden and you can sit out in the morning and hear the birds. It's near the village of Chadgford and Castle Drogo and the Stone Lane Gardens are walking distance. However, it was advertised as having access to Wifi but this was not working for the duration of our stay. This caused us difficulties as we had commitments that week which required access to a Wifi system. Although we were told it would be rectified it was not and this was a disappointment.

“The cottage is set in a very rural location situated off a single track narrow lane and is on a attractive farm.”

The situation was delightful, very quiet and overlooking fields. The cottage itself is lovely and is well presented, though the parking area is a bit challenging if like ourselves you have a large car. We had a lovely time despite the wet weather and with a few tweaks the cottage would be perfect. A welcome from the owners would of been nice but we never met anyone during our stay but the welcome hamper was much appreciated. The attention to detail including the cleaning needs improvement, maybe it would be a good idea to supply some additional cleaning materials for guests to use. The top floor bathroom was poorly lit at night, only one lamp working by the sink. There was no washing machine even though it was advertised as having one and this was very inconvenience for us as we only took limited clothing.The lack of a microwave was also a hassle and we would strongly suggest the owners install one. The television signal was sadly not great and this is probably due to the rural location. Finally the internet signal was at best poor, the cottage appears to share this with Cromlech Cottage next door as whenever that cottage was occupied we lost our very weak signal, the signal expander is not up to the job.This was disappointing as a businessman I need good internet especially with lack of mobile phone signal. There were a few other minor issues but we didn’t let this spoil our break. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable but firm, the cottage was warm and there was plenty of hot water.The wood burner was lovely in the evenings.Older guests however may find the stairs to the second floor a bit challenging as I did. Overall we liked the cottage itself but probably wouldn’t stay again due to the facilities which is a great shame.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback which we have passed to the owner for their comments. Constructive feedback is always welcome as this allows us to keep up the high standards for the cottages. The issues with the heating and internet have now been resolved, but unfortunately as the cottages are in high demand we have not had a day where the service people could freely work. In terms of the heating this turned out not to be a fault but the controller was unfortunately reset by the previous guests which we advise not to meddle with. The poor signal was actually a faulty router which has now been replaced. The TV signal is perfect and the aerial has been reset after being affected by a storm. We have removed the mention of the washing machine. Despite the points raised we are pleased you enjoyed your visit to The West Country. Owner relations

The first floor also hosts a wonderful study, perfect to retreat to with a book on a rainy day or catch up on the current affairs with a coffee in the morning.

A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Chagford, one of the five Stannary towns of Dartmoor, is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a town of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the town as well as an annual running race, known as Two Hills Race. Just over 21 miles away is the bustling, beautiful city of Exeter for a different kind of break, definitely worth a visit. The charming, attractive town of Okehampton sits just 12 miles away.
