On the hill above Tavistock, in a cul-de-sac with views over the town towards Dartmoor’s tors, a 1920s detached home. From the private lane, gate to gravelled parking area. At the front of the house, an enclosed, well planted garden with raised terrace (table/chairs), lawn and small pond (fenced).
Inside, the house is bright and welcoming. Front door to good-sized hall, off which living room (open fire, TV/DVD) with bay window looking over the garden, and door to sunroom. Dining room with bay window. Kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, larder fridge, gas hob/electric oven) with door to breakfast room with table/chairs for four. Door to garage (washing machine, tumble drier, fridge-freezer). Stairs from hall up to three bedrooms - two double, both with views over Tavistock to the moors beyond, and a pretty single. Bathroom (shower over bath, washbasin); separate loo. A family-friendly, comfortable house in an excellent location for town and moorland exploration.
Tavistock: fine ancient town on the River Tavy on the edge of Dartmoor, evolving around an abbey founded in 974, and Sir Francis Drake’s home town. Lots of interesting shops, pannier/farmers’ markets, pubs, restaurants, wharfside theatre (also films/live music), leisure centre. Golf, 1½ miles; horse riding and cycling routes within a few miles. Nat. Trust places (Cotehele, Buckland Abbey, Lydford Gorge, Saltram House) nearby. Plymouth, 9 miles.

Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool. This is the perfect destination for country lovers who enjoy the convenience of an interesting town on the doorstep. There is excellent walking on Dartmoor, cycling on The National Cycle Network no. 27, renowned game fishing, gardens of distinction and various National Trust properties nearby. Within easy reach is the maritime city of Plymouth, with its Barbican Quay and the Historic Royal William Yard. Torbay, the Eden Project and the sandy surfing beaches of Devon and North Cornwall are all within an hour’s drive and provide activities to keep all the family happy.
