Within the Dartmoor National Park, 2 miles from Tavistock and sheltering privately in wooded farmland, is Grenofen Manor.
The Shippen is a semi-detached ‘upside down’ cottage converted from an old milking parlour, one of many handsome barns and stables which served the manor house.
It has pretty views of well-kept flower-filled grounds and long views to the moor, and its own little secluded garden (table/chairs, barbecue) for sunbathing/snoozing (not ball games).
Lots of footpaths around.
Open-plan living/dining/kitchen (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, freezer, fridge, electric range-style cooker) with smart TV/DVD/Blu-ray/PVR, iPad with iTunes (Bluetooth speaker) and stable doors to little conservatory (cane chairs) leading to garden.
Downstairs (stairgate), two bedrooms - a double, and a twin (hooks for clothes-hanging); shower-room (suite).
Tumble drier and secure bicycle storage in part of garage opposite.
A lovely quiet place.
Tavistock: fine ancient town on the River Tavy on the edge of Dartmoor, evolving around an abbey founded in 974, and Sir Francis Drake’s home town.
Lots of interesting shops, pannier/farmers’ markets, pubs, restaurants, wharfside theatre (also films/live music), leisure centre.
Golf, 1½ miles; horse riding and cycling routes within a few miles.
Nat.
Trust places (Cotehele, Buckland Abbey, Lydford Gorge, Saltram House) nearby.
Plymouth, 9 miles.
