,we have been to herb cottage several times - it is in a quiet lovely setting - claire and mike are the ideal hosts there if you need them - otherwise they leave you alone - the cottage is ideal for us - it's central for everywhere on dartmoor and in devon that we visit
“This holiday cottage is absolutely perfect.”
The location, of course, is beautiful even when the weather is a little wetter than expected. The rivers on Dartmoor look wonderful even when swollen, and the scenery is second to none. Dartmeet is a lovely spot I remember from childhood days with my parents, 50 odd years ago, and it is as scenic as I remember. Herb Cottage is a lovely, well equipped and immaculately looked after cottage in lovely grounds. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thanks, Claire, for helping two old fogeys sort out the new-fangled internet TV and for looking after Herb cottage so well. A1+ for everything.
“The cottage was in a wonderfully quiet setting.”
It was comfortable, warm and convenient for exploring Dartmoor. We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay away from the bustle of London.
“Very friendly en helpfull people!”
“In regards to Helpful Holidays: In your communications you mention that linen and towels are included.”
However the owner said you have to pay extra for towels. Because she knew that it's not always communicated properly by Helpful Holiday, she provided some for free. In regards to Herb Cottage: It's a beautiful house, which is very cool thanks to the thick walls. On warm days this is very nice. We were pleasantly surprised how much room there was. The chairs in the sittingroom were comfortable, and supportive to your back.It was lovely and peaceful to sit in the back garden. Unfortunately we found the beds not suitable for us; two beds too hard and one bed too soft. But maybe that's a matter of personal preference. We did not like the waterpressure in the shower; you could almost say it was absent.
“Nice cottage, beautiful area”
The cottage provided more than enough room for our group of 4 adults and 1 toddler. It has a very classic look to it and is located in a beautiful and remote area. Everything we needed was available in the cottage. The area is great for walking, and there are also interesting towns and other place to visit. If you like walking (in Dartmoor), this cottage is a very suitable place to get started.
