“We enjoyed our holiday in this nice cottage and the lovely village of Woodbury.”

There were a number of problems (broken toaster, broken airer and no bread knife) but on the positive side the owners were responsive and these items were sent by Amazon to us quickly. There were a number of problems (broken toaster, broken airer and no bread knife) but on the positive side the owners were responsive and these items were sent by Amazon to us quickly. The owners obviously do care and we thank them for their attention. However, they were badly let down by their cleaning team who clearly did the barest minimum. The courtyard chairs and table were filthy and there were leaves and weeds everywhere along with cobwebs hanging from the porch and other areas of the courtyard (all very noticeable) which made for a very unwelcoming first impression after a long journey. Bins smelt terribly and were not even in a tidy stack. A far cry from the lovely photos on the website. As soon as we arrived we started to prepare a meal but were very disappointed to discover the oven was filthy (even the oven door, which was so obvious) and had to be wiped down before use. It needs a deep clean. There were significant cobwebs in kitchen cupboards and all items had to be washed before use. Even the butter dish on the counter - again so obvious - was disgusting. Needless to say we didn’t bother to use that. Into the sitting room and the sofa is very stained and upon lifting up seat pads thinking we could turn them over there were enough crisps and biscuit crumbs to feed an army. It is not just sun damage. Cushions were in a bad state. Some of the bedding had stains on it. The loo in the bathroom is loose and rocked badly. The loo brush in the bathroom was absolutely revolting. There is a stain on the kitchen ceiling - historic leak from en suite shower or still happening ? Worth checking. The windows had not been cleaned for a while. I feel sorry for the owners - as an owner myself I would be mortified if any guests arrived to that. Even the cleaning cupboard was filthy. The irony was not lost on us. A cleaner was sent round but only arrived at the end of the day on Monday - our 3rd day there so apart from cleaning the courtyard furniture (and pointing out one chair was broken and unusable - but not even removing it) it was too late to rescue the situation. Photos have been taken and will be sent to Sykes in the hope that this helps the owners. Also, the hedges had been cut back and we could park easily - again a clear sign the owners care.
