Reviews

    • “The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and well furnished with a lovely private garden. It was also very well equipped; from cool bags, ice packs in the freezer, a cupboard full of board games and DVD’s to all the kitchen utensils and equipment you could need. The negatives were - the hot water was scolding hot, we had to supervise our 3 yr old every time she washed her hands. The fan on the oven does not always come on when you turn on the oven, had to switch it on and off to get it to work. Also the small parking spot is tricky to manoeuvre into.”

    Mr Hopkins, SWINDON, August 2018

    • “Having stayed in about a dozen Helpful Holiday cottages over the years, this one ranks as probably the best. It has the feel of a home rather than a holiday let, is beautifully furnished with quality fittings and every gadget you could possibly require. The west facing terrace, overlooking the unspoilt Dorset countryside makes an evening watching the sunset accompanied by a BBQ and a glass of fine wine, a delight. Very comfortable bedrooms and high quality bathrooms make for the perfect cottage. In short, I couldn't recommend this property more highly and will surely rebook at some point in the future”

    Mr Hancock, Hove, June 2018

The Property

Sitting end-of-row, just off the village square in the heart of Broadwindsor, an attractive, Grade II listed cottage. Beautifully renovated, now modern, smart and efficient with soft, pale colours and oak/tiled floors (rugs), with just the odd beam giving a hint of its 18th cent. origin. Behind, a good-sized, enclosed garden with big level lawn, sunny paved terrace (table/chairs, barbecue) and small summer house/games room (mini table football, pool table, air hockey). From the square, door to spacious hall; beamed living room (TV/DVD, iPod dock, woodburner). Light-filled snug (sofa) with French windows to terrace and garden. Step down to generous cottage-style kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, gas range-style cooker) with stable doors to garden. Utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, fridge-freezer) and loo. Upstairs, three bedrooms - two double (5' beds), one with limited clothes-hanging space, and a room with 3' bunks (limited clothes-hanging space), all prettily furnished, carpeted, with painted beams/wood panelling. Large bathroom (suite with slipper bath and separate shower) and neat shower-room (suite). Arrival after 4pm. A welcoming, stylish and charming cottage in a handy, heart-of-village location.

Broadwindsor: pretty conservation village (12th cent. church, good food pub, shop, craft centre/tea room). Excellent base for walking beautiful countryside; Pilsdon Pen, Dorset’s highest hill and Iron Age fort (lovely views), 2 miles. Beaminster (pubs, restaurants), 3 miles; not far to great houses/gardens; sea at West Bay, 8 miles; Lyme Regis and Charmouth (fossil beaches), about 12.
