David “Really lovely cottage.”
We really enjoyed a restful week and easy countryside walks. Couldn't fault anything. Lovely welcome pack. Never tried Dorset tea before but intend to search it out! Instruction manual helpful and easy to follow re appliances. Hopefully we will return to Little Thatch.
- David, September 2023Susan “This is our favourite cottage in Dorset.”
Always a warm welcome and extremely comfortable no matter what the weather.
- Susan, July 2023Christine “Little Thatch was one of best cottages we have ever stayed in.”
Clean, comfortable and an absolute delight. Beautiful village, with a very useful shop where you can get virtually anything you want as far as food and drink go. Thoroughly lovely holiday. Thank you very much. Beautiful Cerne Abbas.
- Christine, August 2022Angela “We had a great stay at Little Thatch cottage, it was like home from home with everything you could possibly need.”
The village was very friendly and welcoming and the local shop came in very handy for every day essential items. Parking was so easy outside the cottage. We would definitely recommend staying here and thank you to the owner for the lovely treats you left us when we arrived, it was much appreciated after a long drive.

- Raymond, February 2022Jenny “Little Thatch is a beautiful cosy cottage in the pretty village of Cerne Abbas.”
The cottage is exceptionally well looked after by Sophie the owner, who lives nearby, and is spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped with all Covid safety precautions met. We highly recommend Little Thatch to anyone wishing to explore the lovely County of Dorset.

- Susan, July 2021Jennifer “This is a wonderful holiday cottage!”
Looks beautiful from the outside and doesn't disappoint inside with everything you need provided. There was a welcome tray and a pint of milk to make a cuppa and have a biscuit when we arrived and some lovely flowers. Dishwasher tablets and washing products are also provided which is a bonus. The furniture was very comfortable and there is a smart TV with access to Netflix provided which was another bonus. There is also a lovely private garden with sun loungers provided and you can park easily right outside which in a village like Cerne is a massive bonus! The Owner is lovely and very helpful and provides lots of info on where to go, where to eat etc as well as all the usual instructions to make your stay enjoyable. Highly recommended!

- Mark, February 2020Trish “Little Thatch was a extremely comfortable cosy cottage with all one needed.”
I would not hesitate to return and hope to do so. A great location with many places to visit. In a lovely village with 3 pubs, plenty of walks and a cafe.
- Trish, November 2019Steven “Lovely location.”
Just a few minutes walk from 2 pubs (soon to be three), a tea room and a well stocked village store. Cottage has been sympathetically renovated and extended and has all mod cons but retains its charm. Parking is very convenient on road just outside cottage but road is not busy. Very nice touches such as some milk, tea and coffee, fudge and even a bedside torch ! This was our first holiday cottage rental and the standard has been set very high indeed (and I'm a fussy old git !).
- Steven, September 2019John “The cottage was fabulous, spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly wish for I am amazed the owners were able to think of so many things!”
- John, September 2019Adrian “Good location in a lovely picturesque village.”
- Adrian, August 2019Jenny “Lovely cottage in a fabulous location.”
Looks better in person than in the photos, minutes walk from a couple of great pubs and a village shop selling tasty local produce. We had a great time.
- Jenny, August 2019Susan “We have stayed in little thatch for the last 4 years.”
We look forward to going because we know the standard is high and we just relax the moment we step through the door.
- Susan, June 2019Graham “Excellent cottage, clean, well appointed in a lovely location.”
- Graham, June 2019Lyn “We absolutely loved Little Thatch.”
After a journey of more than 30 hours from Australia we arrived at a beautiful cottage in a lovely village in the heart of Dorset and it was worth all the hours of research that went into choosing something really special but authentically old English. Sophie, who lives nearby, is friendly, very helpful yet unobtrusive and had left us very welcome staples and rather special treats. She had emailed me comprehensive information and directions so our arrival was smooth and easy. The location is perfect being within the village and easy walking distance to the great pubs and shop and yet surrounded by beautiful walks in the countryside. There is a wealth of travel guides, maps and literature available. The cottage is extremely well equipped, especially the delightful kitchen and everything is very clean and fresh. With roses and wisteria climbing over the front of the cottage under the overhanging thatch and clematis along the wall in the cosy back garden, Little Thatch must surely be the quintessential English cottage. We are looking forward to returning as there are endless delights in the surrounding area.
- Lyn, May 2019Graham “The cottage is in a lovely location.”
It has excellent facilities and so well equipped. It was such a pleasant stay and we hope to get back again soon
- Graham, April 2019Margaret “Little Thatch was a perfect cottage.”
There were many extra touches like coffee, tea , bubble bath and dishwasher and laundry products available. Cerne Abbas has a very good village shop and three pubs, what more could you want! The cottage was super clean and does not allow pets so there were no nasty smells, stains or pet hair on the furniture or bedding that we have experienced in other cottages.
- Margaret, March 2019Derek “The cottage is brilliant.”
.everything you need is in the lovely house. The village is really nice and peaceful..people very friendly. Two good pubs with good selection of food. Would recommend this house good location for exploring the area.
- Derek, February 2019Therese “We loved this little cottage, and the village of Cerne Abbas.”
A central spot for exploring Dorset, and all the local offerings. The cottage was very well fitted out, and a real bonus was having both a bathroom and a shower room. Would recommend Little Thatch to everyone, and the bonus of an excellent village shop can't be underestimated!
- Therese, November 2018E “We really enjoyed our week in Little Thatch in Cerne Abbas, Dorset in August.”
The cottage facilities exceeded all our expectations. It was beautifully restored and all facilities were of a very high standard - from bedding & comfortable beds to thick towels, and quality kitchen equipment. The hosts were welcoming and there was the added bonus of having the village round the corner with friendly shopkeepers and welcoming pubs (in two of which we sampled delicious food). We would not hesitate to stay in this cottage again.
- E, August 2018Ruth “Lovely cottage but very expensive.”
- Ruth, August 2018Michael “The cottage was perfect.”
Everything one could want was to hand . Little touches , milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits all available on arrival. Our grandson loved it.
- Michael, August 2018Susan “This was our third visit to this cottage, it is still the cleanest and most well equipped we have visited over the last 40 years.”
It is an advantage to have the housekeeper nearby in case of any problems. Another lovely holiday.
- Susan, June 2018Anne “Fantastic cottage we would stay there again Sophie was most helpful.”
I was recovering from eye operations so the rest & peace in the pretty village was most welcome.Plenty of places to eat within walking distance.Cottage was very clean well placed to see the area.
- Anne, June 2018Judy “Cottage was beautiful.”
Felt comfortable as soon as we walked through the door. Have stayed in a lot of cottages but this has to be one of the best. Easy access to a lot of different places. If we ever come back to Dorset I would definitely book Little Thatch again
- Judy, April 2018Christine “We had a lovely time at Little Thatch but did find the bath plug upstairs did not work properly, or the cooker.”
Both looked very good but were not user friendly. Other than that couldn't find fault. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful little village even though when we were there, there was plenty of snow. Would thoroughly recommend it once these minor faults are ironed out. The microwave however was excellent.
- Christine, March 2018David “A lovely cottage with everything that we required.”
There was a lovely touch by the owner of leaving us cake and biscuits for us to enjoy when we arrived and they were really appreciated. The cottage's location is idyllic.

We had a wonderful stay and we would love to come back and take another holiday here at some stage in the future. Top marks!
