    “Had a lovely christmas break in this cosy cottage.”

    spotlessly clean, very comfortable furniture, lovely open fire..the kitchen was very well equipped,everything you needed. the owner had put some xmas bits around which was very thoughtful. the stairs were steep, but not a problem as there was a banister to hang onto. the only criticism was the single bed was a bit uncomfortable as you could feel the springs. maybe a thick mattress topper would help. other than that it was perfect. Lots of places within easy driving distance, the trailway was a ...

Built in 1860, Poppy Cottage is a charming little mid-terrace cottage with a real 'own home' feeling in a cluster of about twelve on the edge of Charlton Marshall.

Rural, peaceful and quite unspoiled.

Enclosed garden (table/chairs) with roses and clematis.

Two steps down to entrance porch to cosy living/dining room with open fire (coal included) and TV/DVD.

Neat kitchen (microwave, fridge, electric cooker, dishwasher), from which steep stairs (stairgates) to two pretty bedrooms, both with views to the garden - a double, and a twin (truckle, footboard).

Bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

WiFi available in village pub.

On the Stour Valley Way (good walking/cycling); a lovely place to stay. Charlton Marshall: village (pub, church) in a river valley (coarse fishing) between Blandford Forum (Georgian town), 2 miles, and the sea at Poole and Bournemouth (sandy beaches), 17 miles.

Poole Harbour is beautiful with boats and Brownsea Island (Nat Trust, red squirrels, woods).'Jurassic Coast' (Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove), 16 miles.

The village boasts a friendly pub; whilst nearby Blandford Forum offers a good selection of shops and restaurant, and the stunning surrounding countryside welcomes outdoor enthusiasts with its network of footpaths and cycleways. Excellent transport links from Charlton Marshall offer access to many places of interest, with a journey southwest leading you to Thomas Hardy's Dorchester, then on to Dorset's magnificent Jurassic Coast at Weymouth and beyond. Take the route north to discover the many pretty villages of the Blackmore Vale on the way to historic Sherborne, then south to the attractive market town of Wimborne Minster, as well as stunning Poole Harbour, where a cruise around the islands is a must.
