The property

In the centre of the village of Chideock is this big, thatched, detached farmhouse.

A couple of doors from a good pub and with the footpath to the beach across the road, this is a splendid house for families or friends to gather and socialise.

As you cross the lawn from the parking area, you will find the indoor swimming pool in a building in the garden, a wonderful facility for family fun or quiet lengths.

Head down the steps from the garden into the utility area off the long farmhouse-style kitchen with its big cooker and little breakfast table.

Off this is the brilliant dining room with long table for enjoying sociable meals.

The two sitting rooms give an option for watching TV, playing games or sitting quietly.

Two staircases lead up to seven of the bedrooms, a double room and a fun little twin up a ladder under the eaves.

The other two en suite bedrooms are in a dear little detached Creamery in the garden, ideal for anyone seeking a little peace.

A small patch of garden at the front separates the house from the A35 road, and the main garden is at the back, a lovely lawn within walls, plus a patio with outdoor furniture and barbecue, a little games room and a sun terrace.

With the sea within walking distance, this is a great place for enjoying the beach or fossil hunting or walking the Coast Path.

Golden Cap has amazing views.

Bridport and Lyme Regis are interesting places to explore, or why not head to Weymouth to take a day trip to the Channel Islands?

With its fabulous indoor pool, Park Farmhouse is a lovely place for big groups.

About the location

Bridport 2 miles. Lyme Regis 7 miles. West Bay 4 miles.

The pretty village of Chideock (pronounced Chiddick) can be found straddling the main A35 road between Bridport and Honiton, in glorious West Dorset. Many of the quaint cottages lining the road are constructed of cob and the honey-coloured local sandstone. Lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the area has plenty of lovely walks, whilst just 1 mile away is Dorset's Jurassic Coast, famed for its fossils and ease of finding them, where a walk along the coastal path affords spectacular views across the sparkling waters of Lyme Bay towards Portland, Chisel beach and the Devon coast. A short drive east takes you to the ancient rope-making town of Bridport, and the harbour at West Bay, or venture west to visit the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis. An excellent holiday base from which to explore this scenic area.

Note: No stag parties
