Michaela “We enjoyed a lovely stay at Snooks Cottage.”
The cottage is warm and cosy and in a great location for visiting the surrounding area. The addition of a ground floor bedroom with en-suite was an added bonus for my Mum but please note that for those with mobility issues there are still steps on the ground floor to negotiate between the kitchen and living room. Communication with Joanne, the owner was good before our stay and the welcome hamper was a lovely bonus. We would highly recommend a stay in this lovely cottage.

Mark “Beautiful property in a beautiful part of the world.”
Great attention to detail from the owners with plenty of useful information beforehand and a welcome hamper on arrival.
- Mark, November 2021Linda “It’s a wonderful cosy, homely cottage with excellent facilities in a beautiful location.”
There’s attention to every detail, especially cleanliness. It felt like home from home, the welcome pack of goodies was a lovely touch. Communication with the owner was excellent, we were confident that any problems had there been any, would have been dealt with immediately. Thanks for a wonderful week.
- Linda, September 2021Lorna “Cottage is extremely comfortable and cosy with everything you would need set in a lovely village.”
Not for anyone with mobility problems due to amount of steps and steep path in garden but the addition of handrails in the garden has been a huge improvement.
- Lorna, September 2021Stephen “Very nice cottage - we had a great stay.”
However the onsite parking arrangement needs to be described more clearly.
- Stephen, September 2021Rob “We stayed fir a week in this bsolutely gorgeous cittage with a beautiful enclosed garden at rear and a front view overlooking an amazing old church and grounds in the beautiful village of Upwey .”
Location is great for visiting other places which we did everyday Made to feel welcome with little touches like fresh flowers in rooms and thoughtful welcome gifts from owner of cake scones butter strawberries cream ham and tea for us and chew treats for our dog who really appreciated the thoughtfulness on our arrival We would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone who wants to relax and explore the beautiful surroundings Dorset has to offer Thank you for making our 1st staycation in year's memorable x
- Rob, August 2021Jonathan “Very pleasant cottage, with good facilities, a lovely garden, and well located.”
- Jonathan, August 2021Rachel “This is a beautiful place to stay, totally tranquil with amazing scenery.”
Everything at the cottage was perfect and the little extras that were provided, chocolate cake, doggie treats etc were such a lovely touch. This was a perfect getaway and we can not wait to return!!!
- Rachel, August 2021Peter “We were disappointed in the TV.”
Lots of the programs were unobtainable and as we spent evenings in it was difficult to get a station we wanted. Other than that everything was good
- Peter, June 2021Helen “The cottage was lovely and cosy.”
There was a really fantastic welcome pack of goodies, which we really appreciated. The view of the old church was wonderful from the lounge window. This room was quite small so the sofa and chair were just a but too small for us to fully relax in the evening. Also the double bed sank in the middle so we rolled together ☺️ These are the reasons why i marked it down slightly for comfort. We had a lovely holiday and would recommend this cottage.
- Helen, May 2021Nick “This was a beautiful cottage in such a lovely valley.”
We were greeted with some wonderful treats (even something for our fur baby!) The location is close to some fabulous walks and well as a really delicious tea garden. This was one of our best stays in the UK so far both in respect of location and the accommodation itself. Lisa, Nick and Duke
- Nick, April 2021Jonathan “Snooks Cottage is a lovely, cute little thatched cottage and was very cosy.”
Joanne helped me arrange a surprise for my wife (it was our honeymoon) and even left some welcome gifts. it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and we will definitely be going back!
- Jonathan, April 2021Lindsay “A beautiful cottage exactly as described.”
Very well equipped. A very pretty but steep garden. Wonderful position opposite a beautiful church. Bell ringing on Sunday was joyous. A welcome package containing goodies was thoughtful and the dog treats were enjoyed by our Labrador. Bear in mind that both bathrooms are downstairs. This may not suit all guests. The cottage is a good base for some lovely walks. We especially enjoyed the Jubilee Trail.
- Lindsay, September 2020Julie “Great location.”
Lovely cottage.and the most comfortable bed I have slept in when on holiday.owner very nice.we had a power cut and was emailed and phoned by owner to inform us of what was happening and apology for it happening even though it was not her fault.which was a nice touch.communcation good also our welcome pack of food goodies.will definitely be returning
- Julie, September 2020Kate “A beautiful home from home!”
Our third stay at the cottage! We love the location and the wonderful facilities that Snooks cottage offers.
- Kate, August 2020Robert “Lovely cottage in a great location which was very quiet.”
Short walk to the pub which was good, shame they were closed one of the days we were there and didn't do food in the evening of the other two nights. Cottage though had all the home comforts and it was nice they left us some cakes and milk. One very minor thing, the hot tap in the bathroom actually turns on the wrong way, I nearly pulled it off the sink trying to turn it on! A little warning in the intro guide would have been helpful. Also there is no toilet upstairs - should have been mentioned, not really a problem for us but older people might struggle.
- Robert, February 2020Lesley “Snooks Cottage was a delight ...”
Snooks Cottage was a delight The village is lovely and the locals were really friendly too The cottage had everything you could possibly need and the log burner made the winter evenings really cosy Would definitely recommend Snooks and we intend to return ourselves
- Lesley, January 2020Martyn “Lovely cosy cottage.”
Fitted out with everything a holidaymaker could possibly wish for. Very comfortable. Idyllic location and nice and quiet. I would come here again. If I was asked to find fault the only negative thing I could say is that the lighting is fairly poor in most of the rooms. This was only a minor thing and did not spoil our holiday in any way. Thank you.
- Martyn, November 2019Christopher “Everything at the cottage was as it said in the advert.”
A lovely peaceful haven from which we enjoyed our holiday. We certainly hope to experience this lovely cottage again.
- Christopher, September 2019Colm “A beautiful cottage in an ideal setting, in the countryside of Upwey but up the road from the beach and town of Weymouth.”
Unfortunately some of the holiday it rained heavily but Snooks was a cosy base for us to return to and enjoy the log fire to warm up. The hosts were very accommodating and even left us special treats! As a family (including our dog) I’m sure we all agree (ages from 2-62) that it was a great holiday and plan to return soon!

We couldn't think of anything missing in this cottage. The beds were just so comfortable, best night's sleep in a holiday cottage I've ever had. Really appreciated the welcome pack for us and the dog. Great location, so much to do without driving around for hours and everyone we met during our week in Dorset was just so friendly. Didn't want to come home. Would definitely recommend, a 10/10 cottage for sure.
- Katharine, June 2019Susan “Snooks Cottage was everything we expected and more.”
Quiet location, very generous welcome pack, comfortable beds, home from home. The garden was lovely, although the bad weather meant that we couldn’t fully appreciate it! Friendly neighbours and fabulous food at the Wishing Well Tearooms. Would definitely recommend.
- Susan, June 2019Tim “A wonderful period cottage with all the modern conveniences to provide the perfect package.”
Everywhere was pristine on arrival. The owners had left us a lovely welcome pack of milk, cake, biscuits and strawberries and fresh flowers. There was an extensive cottage rundown regarding heating use of the cooker etc. I can not recommend this property highly enough. We will be back one day I hope.
- Tim, April 2019Elizabeth “Loved the cottage, spotless, full of character and great location.”
Would be a bonus if washing machine could be fitted into kitchen. Definitely would recommend for the fit and not too tall!
- Elizabeth, March 2019John “Very welcoming and well equipped cottage perfectly located for our stay.”
The owners had provided for every need. We'll most certainly return.
- John, March 2019Elizabeth “It was a really comfortable well equipped cottage.”
Really useful welcome pack. Plenty of wood for the fire, however we had such fantastic weather we didn't use it. Heating very efficient. A really lovely week in a beautiful cottage!
- Elizabeth, February 2019Melanie “A lovely secluded spot in the heart of Dorset with all the best places to visit well within reach.”

- Melanie, February 2019Caroline “We had a wonderful week at Snooks cottage.”
There is nothing negative to say whatsoever. The snow arrived while we were there and we immediately received an email informing us there was grit there and salt, Also a phone call to check we were ok. The cottage is so well equipped and in a picture postcard spot. A friendly village and lots of lovely walks etc. Highly recommended!
- Caroline, January 2019Gordon “Snooks cottage is gorgeous very cosy and warm and a lovely quiet location, local villagers were very friendly and dog friendly.”

- Gordon, January 2019Graham “We both had a wonderful time the cottage was lovely everything we could have expected and more.”
The host left us a welcome pack of goodies which was a very kind thought and much appreciated. The location for us was perfect as we planned to have a nice relaxing time and make use of the log burner. There are lots to do in the surrounding area we did costal walks and explored the coastline of particular interest to Sue was Chesil beach. Upwey is a lovely village we found people there extremely friendly and helpful. We were lucky with the weather but would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage for a holiday whatever time of the year. A big thank you to our hosts for a memorable visit.

About the location
UPWEY
Dorchester 4.5 miles; Weymouth 4 miles.
The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour.
